CR says that Honda, Suburu, and Toyota are still ranked at the top based on being well rounded autos - performance, reliability, comfort, mpg, safety. Honda gets 1st place.

Ford is continuing to make improvements with some of their cars making significant gains toward the Japanese cars. (I still like my Furds) Come on Telcoman, have you driven a Ford lately???

Chrysler is going further south with theirs. CR does not recommend any Chrysler product. They are tied for last place with Suzuki. At least Chrysler has been consistent thru the years!!

Benz, BMW, VW, and Volvo are making gains in reliability.....but who cares. Actually, I did look at a VW CC and it was pretty nice, like the look, but the price was silly.

Speaking of VW, the Eos is a nice hard top convertible idea

Problem : overpriced for what power/ luxury one would get

Actually no.

The only Fords I still have the hots for are the ones I wanted when I was in high school.

A Model A or a Model T

The last decent Ford was probably the 56 but Chevy was giving them strong competition back then. By the end of the nineteen fifties and early sixties VW and other European and Japanese imports were giving the American automobile manufactures increasingly strong competition.Their misguided response has brought them to where they are today.

Back to the Model A & Model T

Unfortunatally the garage is currently occupied by my G and the wifes new Altima.

I don't think she would want her Altima outside to be replaced by one of the above

Perhaps after I retire I would love to build a replica from the ground up.

Justifying the cost of a project like that is another conundrum I have difficulity with

So, how do you guys like your Altima's????

Wife is now looking at cars to replace the G Sedan that is in the shop.

Drove the G37 Sedan/Coupe and the Maxima. Might check the Altima and Accord today.

My mechanic buddy has a 56 Chevy and a 32 Ford roadster in his garage. The 56 is a black two door! They have increased in popularity over the last few years. Used to be all about the 55 and 57

She came close to purchasing a Honda Accord but was unhappy with the lumbar in the drivers seat. It didn't bother me as much as she found it uncomfortable.

She also came close to purchasing a Lexus ES350 that had cloth interior rather than leather which she does not care for. Lexus lost the sale over their refusal to include the Sirius XM radio in the price.

Only negative on the Altama was having to pay extra for floor and trunk mats. The dealer finally gave them to us at cost but Nissan should include them and not nickel and dime customers. The only item missing is the home link so she has to carry the garage door clicker on the visor.

Overall we both like it but she doesn't like me driving it and I don't like her driving my G.

Hows that for 37 years of marriage

Is the 56 a post? Have you looked at the 335 D from the competition?

Yes, it's a post and no haven't looked at them. I did check prices and the 3 series is a little steep for what you get imho.

I did stop by and look at a Taurus and it was not so purdy. The Fusion looked better, but none were open.

You may have missed the 'D' on the end of that, lots of torque.

yep, saw the D and think there was a favorable write up in C&D recently.

The local tv station gave it a test drive and the 0-60 times were around 6 flat. Not bad for a 'D'. Unlike others it was quiet

i completely enjoyed drviving the 3.5SE altima!!! which is on of the reasons i stepped up to my g35x... if i couldnt afford my g35x i would gladly own an altima. it was a great drive for a FWD (which is the only knock i gave it). The 02 nissan altima 3.5SE was the first nissian product had ever driven... and is the a major reason i looked at the infinti brand.
