Is there a thread about how the KA24DE will run if I put low compression pistons without the turbo and if I need to upgrade air and fuel?

There would be no real need to upgrade anything. You will just have less hp/torque. It would maybe need a SAFC if you wanted to get it to run the best it could, but still would be lower power. Friend has had a built 8.8:1 without turbo for about a year while he saves up for turbo parts, its maybe putting 120hp to the wheels.

Yea I'm trying to save up for the turbo setup also but my engine got rod knock so I might aswell get the pistons and rods now cus it was my daily driver. Beside the SAFC would I have to upgrade injectors, fuel pump adjust timing w/o the turbo

I ran lower compression pistons, aftermarket rods, MLS head gasket, etc. and even cams without any adjustment to fuel or tuning.

And honestly, after 160K+ of engine wear, it ran much better, and felt like it had more torque after the build.
