I thought this would be kinda interesting. I really like when people cover songs but they use other ways of playing it. I think its cool hearing a violin or piano play a song you hear all the time. Anyone have any favorites? I really like these 2.

Death cab cover- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCPRagQHhBw

Oh HELL yeah! DO LIKE.

I wonder... if one were to somehow travel back in time, and play this for one of the classical composers of the era, would they be impressed with the composition?

Kind of like hearing Canon Rock played on an electric guitar... It's as awesome now as it was when it was written hundreds of years ago.

I tend to enjoy covers that aren't trying to replicate the original perfectly:

Obadiah Parker covers Hey Ya by Outkast:

Disturbed covers Land of Confusion by Genesis:

Best version of the song to date, maybe even counting Pink Floyd's. But it took a large cooperation of bands to do it.

Wikipedia wrote:Class of '99 was a short-lived alternative rock supergroup consisting solely of members from notable rock bands: Layne Staley of Alice in Chains as the vocalist, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine (and later Audioslave) on guitar, Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction as the drummer, bassist Martyn LeNoble of Porno for Pyros and with the help of Matt Serletic on keyboards.
Does this count as a cover?

Musically, great. If only they would replace the lead singer. I wish I could get Phil Collin's voice over the disturbed music.

Funny thing about this song is how much it tells about society. Phil Collins says "our generation will put it right", and now 24 years later we're saying the same thing about Phil's generation.

I agree with the above two comments completely. When I first heard the intro I was stunned cause I recognized the song and actually liked the cover more. Vocals leave much to be desired.
