couple safc questions

i just installed the safc 1, 97 240 with ka. turned the car on and it ran like ****, didnt want to stay running, blowing black smoke, i guess it was very very rich. anyways i had to disconnect the maf signal wire on the safc so i can drive the car home. what kind of settings can i do or what should i do is really my question, i would like to hook the safc back up and drive the car with out blowing out tons of black smoke. what would i have to turn down or turn up to lean it out?thanx

Did you buy the SAFC new or used? Playing with the settings without the proper equipment(ie: Wideband O2/ Dyno) could be dangerous. If you bought the SAFC used then your probably still on someone elses maps. When you first get the SAFC it isnt adjusting anything. You may just have to reset everything so that the SAFC isnt changing anything and go from there.

i found the problem. wired it to the maf ground LOL thats what happens when you work outside in the dark with little light.anys ways i took it off. dont like the way it works. for sale if any 1 cares. btw its brand new.
