Couple questions. transmission/engine.

Ok. I've had my 89 hatch since february. I was going to sell it but I decided to get it back to mint condition. I was wondering how smooth should shifting be. When I shift I get a little knock going into second, and I get random bumps or knocks on the other gears at other times. It also feels like it is moving a lot it bangs when I put it in gear, feels like the mount is broken or something, like the whole transmission is moving. I was thinking of just replacing the transmission altogether. If you think I should, where should I got to get a cheap one, aside from the usual bargain places, do you guys have any suggestions? Ok. The engine. When I get up to about 3500 rpms, I feel a drop in acceleration. I know the ka, particularly the sohc isn't known for it's top end power but I feel like I should have more. Would I be able to correct this by replacing the fuel pump or injectors? Or do you think I'm having a compression problem? I appreciate any input you guys have. Thanks. Tek.
