Heyo,

So I'm browsing tirerack.com, and see lots of stuff that meets the P215/55R17 specs of the 3.5 SE......... I also saw many of the brand names that were on a previous post, which recommended the best tires to go for.

My questions is do I also need to buy the alloy or steel rims w/ the winter tires, or can I just use my existing ones?

And finally, can I buy the 2.5's tire package, in which the specs are P215/60R16? I was given advice that the smaller tires will cost less and then I can get the cheap steel rims to go with them.

thx!!

Ideally, a set of steelies would be a good way to go.

A. Your saving moneyB. Going down a size for snow tires is optimal for snow travel

Check this winter tire review page I made a while ago:zer...98057

you can go lower size if you want, but you need to buy those tires with another set of size matching rims or those cheep black steel rims.

I bought some Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 to use on my stock 17inch rims. but if you want the smaller ones you can get the Michelin Pilot Alpin Primacy PA3 (16inch)

both are in my opinion, THE BEST PERFORMANCE WINTER TIRES FOR ANY CAR. lol

and also in the ADAC winter tire review test

Use Bridgestone Blizzaks.
