Well I did it. I got an RB26 longblock assy to swap in place of the RB25 I have now. My first question is about using the R33 front X member in place of aftermarket mounts. What part of the Turbo assy hits the steering shaft? Is it the O2 housing on the rear turbo or is it the turbine housing it's self? Also the RB26 clutch and flywheel arn't used when using the RB25 transmission. Why is that? Is the input shaft different on the 26 different from the 25? If thats all it is it wouldn't be hard to get a clutch disk made to match the RB25 input shaft and the RB26 disk surface. Also mount kitsMckinney and Tophat are the two options. How does the engine sit with Mckinney vs Tophat?

A side note: Anyone have a set of RB26 MAF's fs?

i dont know w/ the r33 x member, but even w/ the mckinney mounts, the front turbo dump basically dumps RIGHT into the steering column. you need to get the front dump rerouted. the rear turbo is clear of everything pretty much. oil lines may be a little close to the wall.

i wasn't aware that the clutch/fw was different between 26/25, unless you're talking pull vs push type.

dont buy rb26 mafs, just get some rb20/25s. they are probably cheaper and better too. just need to figure out a way to interpret the signal.

On Mine its the rear turbo oil feed line. I had to bend it out of the way so does not rub the steering shaft. The main problem is the front turbo dump. It points directly into the steering gear box. Only way I see around it and to do it right. BTW this is what I am doing with mine... Have a custom dump made for the front turbo only and modd an aftermarket dwn pipe or have one made.

You always use the clutch that matches up with your trans (always that way). I don't know exactly how they are different but I know that they are. I'd go with Mckinneys mounts.

I was thinking if I could make a custom O2 housing for the front turbo I could get away with using the R33 front X-member and save $400-$600 on mounts.
