I have a couple of questions real quick.my engine in my 91 na 2+2 went way south on me a few months back, so I have been spending these past 3 months going through a low mileage vg30de from japan making sure that everything is in line for my swap to be finished. I have run into a snag though. the jap engine didn't have the oil pressure relief valve that sits right behind the oils filter mount and I am not able to get then one off of my old engine ( I think I'm going to ruin it if I am able to get it out.) and the nissan dealership only sells them with a new oil filter mount. which is about $200 more than I can afford to spend.so my questions are these. is that oil pressure relief valve really necessary? I do not plan on racing it or anything nor taking it on any journeys that are going to be longer that 4 hours. and for question 2 how do i get the old one out without ruining it? or where can I find a new one? I have already looked at rockauto.com and didn't find anything. and ebay didn't have anything (of course) I am in desperate need of this info cause it's the only thing keeping me back from finishing everything up and get out of my grandma car and back into my zthank you for reading all of this rambling

Are you talking about the oil sending unit? That's the part that mounts directly above the oil filter and has an electrical connector on the back of it. It sends the oil pressure information to the gauges.

Oops... forgot the link...

no, I actually have two of those units already. the jap engine has it mounted no the other side of the engine. with a line that goes just behind the AC compressor mount. whereas the american one puts it right on the oil filter housing. so I am debating which one of those I want to use. I am referring to the oil pressure relief valve that is mentioned in the following link: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/300zx/1990/lc.pdfon page 7 of the technical manual.thanks for your time

Seems like that part isn't produced anymore... According to the courtesyparts website, they might be able to find it for you from a dealership if you call them.

Might go try some local junkyards to pull off the mount for a sort of "Trial and error" removal process on the regulator.

Good luck man!

sure I found it on this link http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/this is the mechanics manual's that nico has put online. I found them out of luck one day and bookmarked them and have not been able to find them ever since. so I don't know why they don't have them any easier to find and all. but owell.
