So as summer is approaching and the Pathfinder is going to be my main vehicle, I need to add some 'umph' to the Audio system. I have pretty much narrowed it down to a Basslink or a Bazooka tube.

I plan on keeping the Factory HU and just running the sub off either a PAC connector that has an RCA output or tapping into the speaker line outputs.

What do you think is better? Should I use a PAC connector or tap into the line outputs? Would you recommend the Bazooka or Basslink?

I kind of prefer the Bazooka because it can be easily removed when needed.

Thanks for the input!

Using the PAC would be better but you are still going to be somewhat penalized by the factory headunit. As you turn up the volume it slowly defeats bass as a way to prevent owners from blowing speakers. You would need something like the JL Audio CleanSweep to get around that if it defeats too much bass.

I plan on getting this http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/999

That should help separate the highs and lows.

I think I will end up going with a 10" Bazooka just because its much easier to remove when necessary.

Now I just need to know what wires to tap into. A wiring diagram would be great! My stock Bose amp is right at the back of the truck so that means i wont have to run any wires far.

That's just a converter. The Bose system has integrated filtering that you will still have to deal with (which the cleansweep fixes). I initially installed a older PPI PAR-225 quasi-parametric eq that allowed me to adjust "on the fly". Eventually I simply said fuggitit and installed a Pioneer headunint.

Here's the FSM for your vehicle, you will find wiring diagrams within: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/pathfinder/2002_Pathfinder/

There are other members on here that have installed Basslinks/Bazookas without problems. I'm not going to spend $200 on something like that :chuckle:

I'll just wait for others to chime in and let me know what they did!

Thanks for the input though!

Well what i did, was pretty much gutted everything stock of of the car. I have a 96 pathfinder with a separate factory amp, but no Bose system

Alpine EVERYTHING!!! (IMHO its the best bang for buck brand out there)

Threw away the garbage head unit, opted for an Alpine CDE 123

Replaced all of the door speakers with Alpine sps 600's for the back, sps 600c's for the front. Tweets are in the factory location.

Running on an old Crunch 4 channel under the front seat (planning on getting rid of that for a smaller Rockford)

Sub is running a Alpine MRP-500 to a SWR 1043D in a ported box. THUMPS HARD, need to deadened the back door because DANG it rattles!!

Everything that could be hidden, is. Sub amp is in the rear tray thing, in the back cargo area, 4 channel is under the passenger seat (Word or caution, find a small amp is you go this route, the amp limits seat motion) But i have also seen people hid the amp under the leather of passenger seat, where it un-zipps in the back part.

and the aux cable is run under the center console out the ash tray.

I can Post pics if needed, but the car is very easy to work on, and even easier if you have an auto, because then you could use the clutch delete plate as a way into the car for power wire. i have a manual, so it was ghetto city for me.

Have fun modding

You'll learn to like the Pathfinder, show her some love and she'll love you back.

As much as I would love to completely overhaul the sound system in this thing, unfortunately the money and work involved is holding me back. Im just going to stick with a Amplified sub for now. We will see what happens in the future!

Well what is your budget?

because this one was on a budget as well,if you do some searching you can find most of my gear FOR CHEAP

All of the doors speakers combined shouldn't be more than $150,
$100 for the 4 channel http://tinyurl.com/7rz88ew Don't buy this,
Buy this, http://tinyurl.com/84kyc23
It will pound if you buy an alpine head unit.
$100 for the sub,http://tinyurl.com/7u52bvs Gone up in price, but search around, you'll find a deal
$165 for the amp, Dropped alot since i bought it :bs: http://tinyurl.com/7xtagkx
$80 for the box (Because I KNEW it sound good with that sub) http://tinyurl.com/6pkykjn

Maybe another $150 for wiring kits THAT ACTUALLY work well!

I had bought some cheap kits for my first install, and when I redid the system, EVERYTHING was from those kits was thrown away.

Moral is, make sure you amp has sufficient power. I followed the motto of "if its worth doing, its worth over doing" True 4 gauge Kicker wire for my whole car,
http://tinyurl.com/6o25vug
Would have been fine with some 8 gauge, but i never wanted to touch my setup again.
Friend of mine went one step further and ran MONSTER 1/0 through his car for the same setup.
Everything i used to make my setup, minus a fuse, that should be an easy one.

Spade Connectors
http://tinyurl.com/85tbbrn
Ring Terminals
http://tinyurl.com/8y697qp
RCA's (Two for the four channel, under the seat)
http://tinyurl.com/7oelmag
RCA for Sub
http://tinyurl.com/87yopuj

Check out Sonicelectronix.com Alot of the brands they sell, although not being an authorized online dealer, (doesn't mean stolen, just no factory warranty) they have tons of good deals on.

Hope this helps, reply here if you have any other questions, im happy to help!

Everyone has got their faves, never had any experience with Diamond should post a bass clip, or ill definitely win on a rattle clip, my rear hatch sounds like a air hammer is on when certain songs come on.
