Hey all.

Been around the block with Nissans, had an '04 SpecV with all the Nismo BPU's previously, now I have the 3.5 Coupe.

I don't want to void my warranty, or go crazy anymore. Just a few things.

Anyone have a pic of pro kits on the car? Preferably with stock wheels?

Any suggestions as to an exhaust that has a note closer to that of a G35/Z? I don't want deep loud obnoxious popping and gargling like that of the Nismo exhaust the SE-R (granted, I had the header and what not). A stock G35/Z sounds amazing, that is what I am shooting for. A little disappointed with the stock note of the Altima. Probably some good gains with exhaust work on this car judging by what the stock stuff looks like. Restrictive like the one size too small GI Joe briefs I wore as a kid! Still don't forgive my parents for that.. Probably why I try to make up for it with a cool car, right? You with me?!

Finally, will the Pro Kits and an axle back exhaust (or whatever you guys start recommending) give me warranty issues? I know the general reply, the magnuson moss act, the whole nine (nissanforums member since 2002) I don't need Nissan flying in corperate regional mechanics to "make a ruling" after multi-week long battles with the dealership regarding warranty issues. Been there, done that. Half the reason the SE-R is someone elses problem now. Actually, 75K miles with only having to replace CPS sensor, not so bad.

Thank you for the reply's!

Welcome aboard!

This is pretty hilarious - I too had a 2004 SpecV before I traded for my 08 3.5 coupe. We also have very similar ideas as far as what we want in our coupes.

http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/320208

This link will take you to a writeup for the Eibach install. If you scroll down a few posts, there's an avatar with a sideshot of a coupe on stock wheels with the drop. Thing about the springs is they require modification to the bump-stop in the struts, which will void warranty on the suspension to my understanding.

I go in for dealer service according to my schedule for anything besides oil changes. I've brought it in for the airbag sensor recall, and I currently have intake and axleback exhaust and have never had any issues with the dealers refusing to work on my car for any reason. There are some good people where I go though... lots of the service guys are gearheads and drive Zs anyway.

If you want a deeper exhaust that's not gonna rattle the fillings out of your teeth and give you a tone closer to the G/Z, look no further than Tanabe, my friend. I just bought mine and it's amazing. Fits perfectly. Took all of 30 minutes to install in my driveway - retains all OEM fitment down to the ground wire and hangers - looks and sounds absolutely wonderful and very tolerable on the highway. I'll reply here again once I finally get videos posted.

Enjoy the car! Post a pic or two!

Thanks Xenon! I would have a shop do the spring install, I dont want to work on cars anymore! Any idea how much they charge to install?

The fiance hated the sound of the SE-R. Does the Tanabe sound factory G35/Z or a little more aggressive? Be honest, I don't want to sleep on the couch and be denied sex over an exhaust.. Although I blame the GI Joe underwear everytime!!! (I edited my post if I lost ya on that comment)

Just kidding, no couch sleeping for me. And, I am really good about posting pics and ish, so plan to see me around the boards. Thanks for the welcome.

Those RAYS look great man, nice and clean. Looks like you need a set of pro kits yourself

thanks, i love those rims, but i took them off on the weekend to put on my snowwies, so my car is all black for a few months. i definately need to get lowered, but there's a local company where i live called Racingline that's in the process of making a set of springs so i'm waiting for those. you should check out their site to see if they have parts you might be interested in, namely the short throw shifter if you've got a stick. http://www.racinglineperformance.com

Welcome, I have the Nismo cat back. It sounds pretty sexy I think but does have a bit of a drone when you're driving(when you're giving it the gas that is) but I think it sounds very similar to G/Z's and maybe even a little better at times.

As for the EiBach's, I looked around a great deal, some places will try to rape you on those, I got quotes of $814, $800, $500 and $300 before I found a great shop called BDJ Racing here in the Dallas area. They installed the Eibach springs, Stillen Rear Sway Bar, Rear Endlinks and Nismo Cat Back for $350. So my advise is just look around a lot to find the right place.

Bmore-coupe, the wheels are insane. Haven't seen those until I came here, was admiring your car pics yesterday as a matter of fact. That picture with the stock wheels is exactly what I needed to see, same wheels on my car. Thank you.

Ranga, I've had problems with a lot of nismo parts, so I don't think I will be paying a premium for them anymore. I'll spare you the stories... for now lol.

I remember I got a chuckle though, (then whimpered) when I found out my coveted $800 Nismo exhaust for the SE-R was actually made by Billy Boat Performance!!!... How JDM.

I will shop some shops.

Warranty voiding probably wouldn't be an issue with something like axle back exhaust and some eibachs, you think?

Off to debadge a bit, and tinker.

If you do the drop and your struts blow, then you'll have warranty problems, unless you change back to stock.

Welcome to the club!!!

http://forums.altimas.org/zeromain is the link you should bookmark!

All the info here is in its proper section (for the most part)... Please try and post in the correct area!

The search button works too, and we are always here to help you out! (again post in the right section if you can, if you arent sure, dont worry theres no beatings issued!)

I like my nismo catback (but its different sounds, 2.5 is louder) and the intake is a must.

Nah, don't expect you will have much problems out of me. I've been on the various forums for a decade or so, moderated, etc. My register date on Nissanforums and others are 2002 or so.

That being said, the search function seems to leave a little to be desired, and the "will this void my warranty" question although typical noob (guilty guilty.) was meant more like, how Nissan has been treating the coupe community as a whole. Seems some models are more blacklisted by the factorys than others.

Debadged the left side. Still deciding if I like the 3.5SE w/ the V6 logo underneath.

Sprayed a little 1/24 scale GT-R Z Tune bumper from a model kit with blue silver flake and hung it with a little silver rope around the rear view. +6hp, right there.

Take the leftover T from your ALTIMA logo from the left side and put it next to your 3.5SE so you have 3.5SE T

Or try to come up with some combination of words with those leftover letters.

I would literally be ashamed to drive the car. A misplaced letter like that breaks the cardinal rule!

Back in the day I had a 200SX, which of course I rearranged to ready SE-X. Live and learn...

However I did try to eye a new home for the leftover T on the back of the 2010 Mazda CX-7. Turbocharged, intercool-as-hell!

Actually, ordered a "turbo" emblem for the CX7

Basically, I traded in my SE-R for the CX-7 and took my fiances Altima coupe, and she drives the Mazda.
