Hey guys first time poster from Australia and need a couple of questions answered :) I own 2 silvias right now a manual SR20DET S13 silvia and a newly aquired Ca18DET auto convertible S13 :)

So I need to know a few things about the convert its not the 240sx version like all you guys own its the JDM one.

Now i'm just wondering if anyone knows if I buy a 240sx soft top for it will it fit my one the exact same? Reason I ask is the 240sx ones seem to be the only ones that are sold that are a straight swap but don't wanna spend the $400 AUD to get it from the States and not have it fit my car :( So yeah anyone know that?

My other question is how to actually retract the roof and put it back up. My one currently needs to see an auto electrician as it doesn't work but the dude I bought it off couldn't even remember the process on how to do it cause it hadn't worked for so long.

So yeah when its working i'm wondering if they have the same process as the 240sx roof and if someone could explain how it works and the steps you have to do would be great?

Also since the electrics aren't working is there a manual way to do it with just hands no batteries or anything??

Thanks alot guys really appreciate it ;)

There should be manual mode for the top. Ours is a valve on the hydrolics, but the 2 cars had completely different creators so will be tough to know for us US/CA owners.

Hopefully a rare fellow Silvia owner will see this.

I didn't even realize the Silvia vert was available with the ca engine.

Oh, and Welcome.

Ah, I just assumed they were all SR. At least they had a few that were 5 speed, all here were AT, though a lot of us have converted them now.

Very cool!!! Another JDM model turns up on the forum! That's great!

I suspect the basic idea of the to system is the same... a hydrolic pump that pushes hydrolic pistons that makes the top go up and down. You probably have a second set of small ones that push the little boot cover up while the top retracts.

To operate manually, I would guess that have the same bypass valve on the hydrolic pump. It should be in the trunk just as our pump is. Find the lever and shift it to manual mode. Then you'll be able to push the parts as you need manually. I think the first thing is to lift up the boot cover. Then the rest of the top should just fold down and backwards into the pit. Then put the boot cover back down. Oh, and you probably have latches just above the driver and pass. doors that hook the top into the A pillar.. you'll have to loosen those.

I know the button is next to the quarter window, and the boot isn't automatic. There was a video somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now....

Edit: found them

Thanks guys I had a snoop around and couldn't find the swicth anywhere to swap to manual mode :S could someone maybe get a pic of there one so I have abit of an idea on where to look?

I can't view those videos at the moment cause my internet is being dumb and won't load anything :(

Can't post pics with my internet being this dumb aswell but it looks exactly like your 240sx converts except it has the silvia front and not the flip lights and the roof actually folds down into the boot (or trunk as you's call it :D) but mine doesn't at the moment cause its stuffed :P

Also does any know if the 240sx top will fit my silvia??

My guess is that the tops are different. Since they had to fit the built in top cover then the silvia top should be smaller than 240sx one. But it is just a guess.
