1. is there a detailed how-to on cleaning the mass airflow sensor on 2001 pathfinder?

2. does anyone else's doors allow make a lot of wind noise? i know these cars arent the most arrow dynamic, but for some reason i feel like its really loud on the highway.. any input? ways to diminish the noise? my doors are aligned.. My buddy owns a collision shop and he did them for me.. and the weatherstripping looks good.

3. Does anyone know of anything that could be making noise near the front drive shaft or underneath the truck while driving? its almost not noticeable if you dont hear it all the time, but it sounds like something turning against just a little metal... I really have no idea what it could be, just asking if anyone has heard of common rubbing of metal underneath while moving..

4. ITEMS FOR SALE!
I. AVS vent shades- no marks, bends, or breaks- practically new.

II. Sunroof vent shade! perfect condition!

III. Set of four- six spoke- stock rims. Painted black, or if you pay extra i will have them

Hi, I'm very interested in the rims. Any scratches? Can you send me some pics to: [email protected]?

Thanks.

1. Why do you want to "clean" the MAF sensor? Is there something particularly wrong with it, or the car? You pulling a code or something?

2. Can you be a little more specific about the noise? Does the noise accelerate with speed? Or is it ust constant no matter how fast youre going? Can you FEEL anything through the steering wheel? Was this before or after you installed your rims?

Thanks for the response!

1. My car has been doggin' it lately in the acceleration area and that is usually a fail proof reason as to why... dirty MAF.

2. The noise starts at around 10-15 mph and will stay consistent at any speed until you slow down. I put some multipurpose grease on the drive shaft in front and in back to see if that would help... it does kind of, but something tells me its not just that... that there is some other reason for this noise.

ALSO,

Does anyone else have a lot of wind drag on there doors? like it seems its coming from where the door closes, but im not exactly sure what the reasoning is if the hinges are straight and weatherstripping appears in good condition. I took my vent shades off and the helped diminish it slightly, but not enough to the point of it being considered "quiet." I know my car is almost 10 years old, Im just trying to preserve it. I love the color, interior, and everything just want it to last and be comfy as well :(

Is this the first place you've looked? What else have you done to try and fix the acceleration problem? I'm not sure you can really "clean" it. If it's not working properly, you'll probably get a code.

Component Description:

The mass air flow sensor is placed in the stream of intake air. It
measures the intake flow rate by measuring a part of the entire
intake flow. It consists of a hot film that is supplied with electric
current from the ECM. The temperature of the hot film is controlled
by the ECM a certain amount. The heat generated by the hot film
is reduced as the intake air flows around it. The more air, the
greater the heat loss.
Therefore, the ECM must supply more electric current to maintain
the temperature of the hot film as air flow increases. The ECM
detects the air flow by means of this current change.

Acceleration
Have you tried cleaning your throttlebody? Sometimes that will take care of it. Take a look at your injectors- dump some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and see what happens. Does it bog at a certain speed, or is it slow regardless of speed? How is your throttle response?

Excessive wind noise
If you don't have anything hanging from the doors or windows, new weatherstripping- I'm not sure. Is the weather stripping OEM? Maybe you've been in someone else's new car, and are paticularly noticing the noise level in your car now.

those avs vent shades make a ton of noise. i'd take mine off but the 3m tape underneath is too strong (it takes over an hour of grueling labor just to clean up one door!!)
