Let me know what you guys think. What i have in mind to do at some point in the future:

1. Replace my black pathfinder door handles with QX4 painted handles (i have a champagne/gold pathfinder). From my understanding, almost every part is interchangeable, so this might be doable. I wanna do this without having to paint

2. Replace bottom of window trims with chrome trim. Haven't looked in to this, so not sure if its feasible.

3. 1" lift. Nothing major. Could get away with 1" spacers with camper bolts.

4. Replace standard step bar with chrome/stainless steel bar

5. Swap steering wheel for QX4 wood steering wheel. I know i am able to do this, but need to match interiors. I have a gray steering wheel and my wood trim is the dark brown, but all the pics i've see, the gray interior QX4 has the lighter wood trim.

6. Install a dual exhaust. Only i want to keep the spare tire. I'm only wanting it for aesthetic reasons, so i'm open to installing a false pipe.

7. New head unit, with LCD screens installed in head rests (very doable. probably my first project)

8. Install bull bar with lights and possibly a winch. I believe i saw a bull bar that had a winch platform.

9. Mount safari roof lights on top.

I think that's all for now. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve but i'll leave those as a surprise for when i do them.

I'm gonna be completely honest, nothing personal just my opinion(might sound harsh though).

1. Replace my black pathfinder door handles with QX4 painted handles (i have a champagne/gold pathfinder). From my understanding, almost every part is interchangeable, so this might be doable. I wanna do this without having to paint

Waste of time and will probably be difficult to find the parts.

2. Replace bottom of window trims with chrome trim. Haven't looked in to this, so not sure if its feasible.

Don't do it unless you want to be a cheesy ricer

3. 1" lift. Nothing major. Could get away with 1" spacers with camper bolts.

Why? If you want to fit bigger tires then do it with springs and get 2" out of it.

4. Replace standard step bar with chrome/stainless steel bar

Another ricer move, don't do it

5. Swap steering wheel for QX4 wood steering wheel. I know i am able to do this, but need to match interiors. I have a gray steering wheel and my wood trim is the dark brown, but all the pics i've see, the gray interior QX4 has the lighter wood trim.

Seems like it's more trouble then it's worth

6. Install a dual exhaust. Only i want to keep the spare tire. I'm only wanting it for aesthetic reasons, so i'm open to installing a false pipe.

A false pipe would be extremely poser, if you do this most will have ZERO respect for you(maybe a little harsh)

7. New head unit, with LCD screens installed in head rests (very doable. probably my first project)

I, and many other have installed Pioneer HU's, they make kick a** stuff. I'm not a fan of the headrests though. They're so cheap now they no longer have that "baller" status.

8. Install bull bar with lights and possibly a winch. I believe i saw a bull bar that had a winch platform.

If you're not planning on taking it offroad then don't do it, it will be extra weight+drag and another super poser move

9. Mount safari roof lights on top.

Refer to answer to #8 but if you're planning on offroading check out pics of mine below, I've got 2 more rear lights but will end up changing all 4 out because they're junk

I think that's all for now. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve but i'll leave those as a surprise for when i do them.

Look, dude, most people are gonna clown you for your list..it's just gonna happen. Personally, I wouldn't do anything aside from the winch and lights, but no bull bar (pretty much f**ks your ride if you get in a front-end collision). But, man it's your ride, so don't let people discourage you. I mean, I think most people's rides on here with 20+" rims are kinda gay and useless, but that's my opinion and I 'wheel my rig, they don't, so to each his own. Honestly, though a lot of the stuff is gonna be rough going, especially when you start snapping plastic swapping out trim. It's old and brittle. But if it's what you have your heart set on doing then by all means. May I suggest if you want to have a functional 2nd side exit exhaust pipe...if you're gonna do the lights up top anyway, get a safari rack and toss the spare up there, too, so you have room to mount your exhaust. 'Cause...well Pathfinders really look like overweight Subaru Outbacks until you put some other junk up top. I mean I have lights, whips and my tire up there and it's just enough. Take any of that off, and bam soccer mom. I hate it.

I guess i didn't fully relate why i chose these mods, and describe why i want them. So maybe this will help.
Empty V wrote:I'm gonna be completely honest, nothing personal just my opinion(might sound harsh though).

1. Waste of time and will probably be difficult to find the parts.
The reason i want to do this, is because i think the black matte handles look cheap on a upper end suv like this. All other in class suvs (ie 4runner, grand cherokee limited, etc) have their higher end models with same color handles, while the lower end, standard models have the cheap matte finishes. Its a personal touch, and something Nissan should have done to begin with, instead of reserving it just for the Infiniti line.

Also, this is something i want to do. Something i'm willing to take the time and effort to do. So, since it is MY time and effort, then I WOULD be a better judge of if either are wasted.
Empty V wrote:2. Don't do it unless you want to be a cheesy ricer
Reason for doing this mod. Several luxury cars and suvs have the bottom of the window trim chrome plated. Seen a newer Escalade lately? It has it. Lincoln Navigator, and even the Aviator? Has it. It looks really nice, to be honest. And i want to try to make these mods look stock. That's my ultimate goal, to do all of these mods and make them look like they belong, not like some cheap ricer add-on.

Another point. My view of a cheesy ricer obviously differs from yours. I think of ricers as lowered cars with crappy rims on rubber band tires, a ridiculously large and out of place spoiler, catback exhaust that sounds like a bumblebee, cheap bumper and ground effects that hurt the aerodynamics of the car and just look bad, and lets not forget, i don't have a honda civic.
Empty V wrote:3. Why? If you want to fit bigger tires then do it with springs and get 2" out of it.
Why not? I already have larger tires fitted on my pathy. Bridgestone Dueler Revos 265/70/16. (that's a 30.5" tire) No rubbing at all, but i'd like to give them some breathing room. Also, using spacers for a 1" lift is also cheaper than replacing many parts for a full 2" lift. I'm just being economical because i just don't feel the need for 2".
Empty V wrote:4. Another ricer move, don't do it
This again takes me back to our opinions differ on ricers. But again, the reason for it, many standard equipment from other car manufacturers have chrome or brushed stainless steel side steps, including Toyota's tacoma and a few others i can't think of right now. Plus, in terms of continuity, my pathy has a chrome surround on the front grill, and it will match the chrome trim on the windows (if i do it) and a potential chrome bull bar. I think it would be cheesy to have different, mismatched parts on my car. That's ricer.
Empty V wrote:5. Seems like it's more trouble then it's worth
I have read several people have done this. The previous owner had scuffed up the steering wheel and i'd like to fix that. The wood steering wheel in the QX4 is really nice. I'd only do it if the trim matched of course.
Empty V wrote:6. A false pipe would be extremely poser, if you do this most will have ZERO respect for you(maybe a little harsh)
I'll give you this one. And i agree. Kinda poser. But i said i'd like a dual exhaust if i'm able to keep the spare tire. I'm moving to So Cal pretty soon, and i won't have any family to come bring my spare tire if i am stranded somewhere. This one may be left undone if i can't get it to work. I only vaguely contemplated the false pipe.
Empty V wrote:7. I, and many other have installed Pioneer HU's, they make kick a** stuff. I'm not a fan of the headrests though. They're so cheap now they no longer have that "baller" status.
I like the pioneers. I'm also looking at a kenwood nav unit. For the lcds, i'm thinking of keeping the standard headrests and installing the lcds into them. Might not be able to because of running the wires thru. Also, i'm not going for 'baller' status on any of these things. I wanna make my ride look good, and it be how i want it. The lcds in the headrest will be for my son to watch some movies in the back seat. I hate ceiling mounted lcds and portable ones. I'm going for something stock looking here.
Empty V wrote:8. If you're not planning on taking it offroad then don't do it, it will be extra weight+drag and another super poser move
I do plan to take my pathy offroad. I'm an avid hiker and a semi pro photographer, so i have to drive out of my way sometimes to get good shots or find good hiking places. Now, my only problem, is my pathy is 2wd. So, i like the bull bar look, and would like a winch installed in case i am ever stuck, i have the winch to pull my sorry a** out.
Empty V wrote:9. Refer to answer to #8 but if you're planning on offroading check out pics of mine below, I've got 2 more rear lights but will end up changing all 4 out because they're junk
I do, so that's why i want them. The off roading i have do so far in my pathy, it's handled just fine. I'm not doing anything crazy now. No mudding or rock crawling or anything. Btw, your lights look sic, tho!

Don't say that, don't ever say that!

Where are you moving to in so-cal? I'm also running a 2WD model but that's why I do high desert stuff with 4WD buddies.

Los Angeles. Company is transferring me to work at the USC Medical Hospital. I'm going alone, until the fam can move out there with me. Might be 6-12 months till they can. So, i'm gonna have plenty of time, and need something to keep me occupied.

Good deal, where in LA are they putting you? I'm in talks with USC right now to do a massive A/V system for them.

i think the painted handles would be a nice touch. Black handles on non-black cars looks very cheap to me. You've probably noticed that most "bottom of the line" models have black plastics like handles, trims, and mirrors, while better models have painted/matching trims.

Try a junkyard (although im not sure if they'd want to separate the handles from the doors)

Well, the medical center is located just east of downtown. So, i'm looking for places in that area. Anything from pasadena to arcadia down thru alhambra to east la. i've found a few promising places.

Want to find something close, and possibly ride pub trans so i can keep miles off the pathy as well as save on gas. hopefully that works out well, and i'll have cash for some adventures.

i plan on doing that, and after examining my doors, it looks like it may be easy enough to do it. There are rubber gaskets that cover holes directly behind the handles, they may be to access the bolts that hold them in. I might try a pull-a-part junk yard and see if they have any qx4s.

i also thought about painting the handles i have.. but for some reason, it screams trouble.

why would you of all people say that, super poser move youve got a 2wd suv with a brushguard, well half of one. off road lights, seems to me someone already did a super poser move, nothing personal, i just dont see y you always have to dis on peoples ideas. I say he does what he wants with his pathy. you just bring people down and make them second think their ideas. abadlovesong do your thing man, you have good ideas that stuff would look great

hey man it's all cool. I see his points and in my first post I didn't totally describe why I wanted these mods. Sometimes, you need someone to second guess ideas, to keep you in check. If at least one person sees my ideas from the outside and critique I may do all sorts of outrageous things and be in over my head. So I appreciate empty v's input

Guess what dumbsh!t, I take mine offroad albeit not as often as I'd like to but I've used my upgrades. Just because it's 2WD doesn't me you have to be a street queen. You don't want to get into it with me son. When someone asks for opinions they're not always going to get positive responses, that's the point. When you grow up you'll understand.

FYI our public transportation blows, it's got to be the worst out of all major US cities. I would also check out Silverlake, Los Feliz and Glendale. Silverlake and Los Feliz have a very cool vibe and there's lots of good food/entertainment. Glendale is a larger city that has lots of nice areas with dynamic typography and greenery. All 3 of those have access to the 101, 134, 5 and 2 freeways.

no doubts about it being bad. Atlantas Marta sys isn't great either. My expectations are not high. A friend lives in Glendale and she loves it. Her commute to downtown is 30-40 each way. And I've heard about Los feliz being great and a place to move to. I should be moved out there by mid February.
