I guess i didn't fully relate why i chose these mods, and describe why i want them. So maybe this will help.

1. Waste of time and will probably be difficult to find the parts.
The reason i want to do this, is because i think the black matte handles look cheap on a upper end suv like this. All other in class suvs (ie 4runner, grand cherokee limited, etc) have their higher end models with same color handles, while the lower end, standard models have the cheap matte finishes. Its a personal touch, and something Nissan should have done to begin with, instead of reserving it just for the Infiniti line.
Also, this is something i want to do. Something i'm willing to take the time and effort to do. So, since it is MY time and effort, then I WOULD be a better judge of if either are wasted.

Reason for doing this mod. Several luxury cars and suvs have the bottom of the window trim chrome plated. Seen a newer Escalade lately? It has it. Lincoln Navigator, and even the Aviator? Has it. It looks really nice, to be honest. And i want to try to make these mods look stock. That's my ultimate goal, to do all of these mods and make them look like they belong, not like some cheap ricer add-on.
Another point. My view of a cheesy ricer obviously differs from yours. I think of ricers as lowered cars with crappy rims on rubber band tires, a ridiculously large and out of place spoiler, catback exhaust that sounds like a bumblebee, cheap bumper and ground effects that hurt the aerodynamics of the car and just look bad, and lets not forget, i don't have a honda civic.
Empty V wrote:3. Why? If you want to fit bigger tires then do it with springs and get 2" out of it.
Why not? I already have larger tires fitted on my pathy. Bridgestone Dueler Revos 265/70/16. (that's a 30.5" tire) No rubbing at all, but i'd like to give them some breathing room. Also, using spacers for a 1" lift is also cheaper than replacing many parts for a full 2" lift. I'm just being economical because i just don't feel the need for 2".
Empty V wrote:4. Another ricer move, don't do it
This again takes me back to our opinions differ on ricers. But again, the reason for it, many standard equipment from other car manufacturers have chrome or brushed stainless steel side steps, including Toyota's tacoma and a few others i can't think of right now. Plus, in terms of continuity, my pathy has a chrome surround on the front grill, and it will match the chrome trim on the windows (if i do it) and a potential chrome bull bar. I think it would be cheesy to have different, mismatched parts on my car. That's ricer.
Empty V wrote:5. Seems like it's more trouble then it's worth
I have read several people have done this. The previous owner had scuffed up the steering wheel and i'd like to fix that. The wood steering wheel in the QX4 is really nice. I'd only do it if the trim matched of course.
Empty V wrote:6. A false pipe would be extremely poser, if you do this most will have ZERO respect for you(maybe a little harsh)
I'll give you this one. And i agree. Kinda poser. But i said i'd like a dual exhaust if i'm able to keep the spare tire. I'm moving to So Cal pretty soon, and i won't have any family to come bring my spare tire if i am stranded somewhere. This one may be left undone if i can't get it to work. I only vaguely contemplated the false pipe.
Empty V wrote:7. I, and many other have installed Pioneer HU's, they make kick a** stuff. I'm not a fan of the headrests though. They're so cheap now they no longer have that "baller" status.
I like the pioneers. I'm also looking at a kenwood nav unit. For the lcds, i'm thinking of keeping the standard headrests and installing the lcds into them. Might not be able to because of running the wires thru. Also, i'm not going for 'baller' status on any of these things. I wanna make my ride look good, and it be how i want it. The lcds in the headrest will be for my son to watch some movies in the back seat. I hate ceiling mounted lcds and portable ones. I'm going for something stock looking here.
Empty V wrote:8. If you're not planning on taking it offroad then don't do it, it will be extra weight+drag and another super poser move
I do plan to take my pathy offroad. I'm an avid hiker and a semi pro photographer, so i have to drive out of my way sometimes to get good shots or find good hiking places. Now, my only problem, is my pathy is 2wd. So, i like the bull bar look, and would like a winch installed in case i am ever stuck, i have the winch to pull my sorry a** out.
Empty V wrote:9. Refer to answer to #8 but if you're planning on offroading check out pics of mine below, I've got 2 more rear lights but will end up changing all 4 out because they're junk
I do, so that's why i want them. The off roading i have do so far in my pathy, it's handled just fine. I'm not doing anything crazy now. No mudding or rock crawling or anything. Btw, your lights look sic, tho!
