Couple more questions about 4wd and the alarm

1.I have a 96 pathfinder, manual with 4w drive. On the visor it says to drive in 2h all the time, but I can't tell what it's in. There are 4 settings, 2H 4H N and 4L, but when I move the stick I only feel 2 settings. I push it forward and the little light on the dash goes out, I pull it back and it comes on, but I don't know what gears those are in, can anyone help me out?

2. What's the proper way to turn the alarm off and on, because I get a wierd blinky light thing, where my lights blink when I try to get out of the car sometimes and I will have to hit the unlock button on the key pad. The horn doesn't go off, and in fact the horn never goes off unless I hit the panic button, but the horn does work via the steering wheel. Is there a way to totally get rid of the factory alarm so I am stuck with using a key to open and close the doors. I also have a new fob so that isn't the issue.

2H - All the way forward (toward dash) - light should be off.4H - Pulling lever down 1 notch - light should be on.In order to put it into 4Lo, you have to have the transmission in neutral, then move the 4x4 lever down into neutral then into 4Lo. You have to do this in one quick movement. You have to be stopped and the transmission in neutral to engage 4lo.

Can't get mine to go down into it, it will go 4h but that's it, must be doing something wrong. Anyone have any info on the alarm issue?
