Im getting together parts for turboing a KA. After lots of thought, i decided on getting a bosch blowoff valve. Ive got a couple questions:

1. It doesnt look like it mounts up like any other BOV that ive ever seen. How exactly does it attach? Do i need to have an extension welded on with a slightly larger ID than the BOV's OD and use a grommet or something? If so, where are these parts available

2. I did a search, but didnt come up with a definite answer on this one. Is there a way to vent the charge without causing problems, i.e. stalling if venting to atmosphere? I dont want to get accused of being ricey, but i like BOV sounds and would rather have it vent to atmosphere if at all possible.

Thanks in advance!

Eww plastic. That seems way too ghetto. After spending the money to turbocharge your car why not just spend the 160 bucks and get an apex-i twin chamber universal from daunttless or anywhere for that matter. Someone was selling a Blitz used for 75 bucks somewhere on this site too.

Well, my buddy's been running one on his volvo for years, and my friend with an APR stage III A4 is running one now too.

The guy with the A4 is the guy that APR tests all their new software with, so if its good enough for APR....good 'nuff for me :) If i change my mind, i can always get a flange welded and get a Type-S. Im going to try to concentrate more of my money on gauges including wideband. every penny counts :)

no its not...wait a minute. IT IS!!!.

OMG what did i just buy?!?!?

but really, if it holds up on an APR Stage III tuned A4 running like 23-25psi, i dont forsee any problems. Those BOV's are standard equipment on porsche, saab, i think Audi, and volvos

You have to be carefull which bosch you buy though. Some are actually bypass valves. meaning they only work when vented back to charge piping. if you don't vent them back you will have a HUGE vacuum leak until you hit boost.

Yes some of them work like that. But trust me there are bosch models that don't work. On my friends turbo s12 we used one that he bought off ebay not knowing what car it was from and he had a huge vacuum leak until we ran it back into charge piping. I have also seem some work fine vented to the atmosphere. Like i said just be careful what you buy. Make sure it is the same unit your friends are using.

There is nothing wrong with a plastic bodied bosch bov. They are standard on many turbo cars. The nsport stg 1 kit comes with one. But you dont have to spend much more for a good quality aftermarket one in the first place. For a begineer turbo kit and vent back i recomend the gredy tpye-s. But if you are looking for something more exotic, check out SARD or BEE-r . They make some good quality and sounding bovs. just my op.
