A/C:My '94 Q45t never had the A/C serviced. When I traded it in Jan of this year, the A/C blew TOO cold. Even in 115 degree temps here in Phoenix last summer, I couldn't run it on high for very long. To keep from making my arms and face numb, I had to set the climate control to 84 degrees! Now THAT's and A/C system! Now, my '05 Q45 is the same, maybe moreso. It's been over 112 here for a week or so, and I can't set my climate control any colder than 84 degrees, and my wife complains about it being too cold even then. Say what you want about Infiniti, they sure know how to build an A/C system for cars. I used to think the old Frigidaire compressor A/C systems on GM cars was good, but they couldn't hold a candle to the ones Infiniti makes.

Another observation:As I've noted in another thread, my '94 Q45t took around 3 or 4 miles for the temp gauge to hit the normal mark. My '05 warms up almost instantly. By the time I've gone 3 city blocks, it's already at the normal mark. I'm sure it has sometning to do with emissions and fuel economy, but somehow, they've found a way to warm the motor up extremely quickly. Even so, it runs plenty cool even in 112 degree temps, and there's no sign of high engine temps. I wonder how they do that.

I gotta tell ya, even though I dearly loved my '94 Q45t, and bought my '05 with some trepidation, I am well pleased with it. Complaints? *Overboosted and vague steering and excessive understeer.*No auto door locks (which even my wife's crappy 2000 Ford Focus wagon has).*Dead pedal too far forward, actually flush with the firewall, can't even reach it without moving the seat so far forward my right leg is bent unnaturally.*lettering on controls, especially those on the steering wheel painted on, subject to quick wear*No illumination of steering wheels controls, hard to operate at night*No trans dipstick*Engine is a little rough *No lumbar support on Passenger seat* Poor high beam performance (too much light dispersion)*Access to headlights difficult*No locking diff, VDC and TCS instead*Mudguards not standard

Good points:* POWER! Plenty of it*Great fuel economy (19-20 MPG mixed city/freeway with A/C on)*Excellent transmission performance*Auto up/down all windows*Backup camera*Power trunk open and close*Auto headlights*Dead flat cornering*Good ride*Comfortable seats*Great looks*Lots of convenience features*Great A/C*Plenty of back seat room*Good sound system*Voice operated feature for most functions*Did I mention "POWER?*Responsive manumatic function for trans*Fantastic HID low beam performance *Excellent instrumentation (what there is of it)*Quiet*Semi-active shocks (they work!)*Dual level console*Compass in rear-view mirror*Tilt-down and in for side mirros when backing*Remote key fob operation works for a long distance*Beautiful interior wood trim*Steering wheel controls for cruise control and audio

I never thought I'd say it, but except for the steering and understeer, I like it a LOT better than my '94 "t" model. All in all, I think Infiniti did a great job on the F50. Oh yeah, and did I mention? It's FAST!

I bet you had a bad Tstat in the Q. If it was never replaced then thats not a legit complaint. Plus, the gauge on the G50s is made to move very slow so that the temp gauge doesnt fluctuate a lot.

I think all one needs is to adapt a better rear sway bar to the back of an F50 to make it handle better. It probably doesnt understeer any worse than a standard 94 Q (not a Q45t or A since they came wiht rear sway bars)

Mine was bad and I didn't realize it until you told me to change it and I'm glad I did!

I agree. With my new T-Stat, my Q is well on the way to warm before I even leave my subdivision.

I had the thermostat replaced, and had the cooling system flushed and serviced (blow out radiator and condenser coils from the rear, new hoses, belts, etc). It didn't change things at all

I thought of getting a bigger rear sway bar, but Infinti only makes one, for the F50 and there are no aftermarket ones, so I'm stuck in that regard. I wish there was a way to get a bigger one,

I agree with you with some of your iobservation. The F50 and G50 are fairly close in performance. With the addition of NICO ECU, and replacing my KS, MAF and O2 sensors, my G50 is not far behind. I drive my G50 more than my F50. F50 has more power and silky smooooth engine. Not to be outdone, my G50 is going thru some restoration (reupholstering part of the front seats, Tokico blues, upper control arms, etc, etc.). The engine is very smooth now. The only things I have to do now better tires/rims, rear sway bar and repainting the whole car.

I will have a real comparo between these two cars later.George... You have a nice looking F50

Sway bars are easy to make. You could take your factory one in and have a shop remake one in a larger diameter for probably under $400... Im thinking more like $200-300....

what about replacing the bushings on the rear sway?wouldn't that be cheaper and easier?

That will reduce the time in transition, but not affect the spring rate of the bar itself.

One thing not mentioned is the increase in roll stiffness between the G50 and the FGY33. Nice post a while back on which rear bars were stiffer. Might look at those as the rear set up is very close to the F50, but I don't know if they are interchangeable.

On the warmup time... Does the F50 use an all electric fan system, vs. the G50's engine driven clutch system? I notice that our G35 more quickly than the Q as well... and I know my t-stat is good.

Maybe they leave the electric fan off?
