I see that on like what you see on the street, this board has more hatchbacks than coupes on it. I wonder what the ratio of production for coupes vs. h-backs was. I've owned 3 240s, and all have been coupes. You would think that the coupes had several advantages over h-backs. For starters, there's less glass out back, which means less weight. Remember the previous generation Mustangs? The LX 5.0 coupes were always the fastest since they weighed the less of all the different styles Ford produced then.Living in a really hot and humid area, it seems the glass on the h-back lets in just that much more sun and keeps the car hotter in the summer.I looked at an h-back last year that was in the classifieds, and that was the first one I seriously thought about buying. One of the first differences I noticed was the placement of the stock rear speakers. It sure is easier to open up the hole in the deck on a coupe for bigger speakers rather than fabricate boxes and enclosures for a h-back. Anyway, I keep my back seat folded down, so it's just like havin a h-back after all. I still get the benefits all the airspace the trunk/h-back allows for the subs to do their bit.

And I feel a lot safer hidin' the bodies in the trunk, too.

the glass thing isnt all that true. where there is no glass, there is STEEL. but yea youre right, but, i havent owned any 240's yet, :(, so just ignore me for a minute.

That thin steel weighs a lot less by area than the thick glass.

Just starting a discussion about an aspect of the car we all love.

I swear, there has got to be more jumpy, pissy mofo's on this board that any other I'm on. Sheesh.

basicly the fastback looks a whole hell of alot better than the coupe, thats the biggest advantage to the f/b's

thats not IMO thats a fact

;) (no offense to the coupe owners, they look good too, but the f/b's look better)

Aren't the s14s all coupes?

I dunno, I like the lines of the coupe better. Still don't think either one's fugly. You see so many less coupes that I think it makes 'em a little more distinctive.
