Hey guys,

Call this a "requirements gathering" process if you will. I'd like to hear from you all what you'd like to see in a master index of aftermarket parts for the Altima Coupes.

Rather than just a list of parts, is there something special you'd like to see? Throw some ideas at me.

a comprehensive, full-review photo guide. LOL i kid of course, but perhaps organizing it by parts for 2.5 and 3.5 separately, along with which component of the vehicle it modifies (i.e. suspension, electrical/lighting, engine, etc.) and a link to the product site would be a great start.

and actually it would be kind of neat to have the members start their own photo-review guide for the newbies coming in, so that we can avoid all of those "WELL WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS PART BECAUSE I'M TOO LAZY TO SEARCH FOR IT" threads.

Having related (common) post links about that particular part would be awesome too. User reviews, experience, application, installation, etc.

YES. Parts listing with member photos and individual reviews. Maybe have each link as it is now in the parts listing thread open up into a NEW NICO thread. This thread would have the link to the manufaturer's part at top, then below users that have experience with said part can post pics and reviews of said part.

Put a difficulty rating on the install, say 1-5 with a 1 being the easiest and 5, not so easy. 5+ for it being a professional install project. ??????

All good ideas, gents. I'm working on an example right now. I should have everything together here within the next couple of days. If you guys are down for what I put up, we'll go from there.

Keep the ideas coming!

This is great idea but I think it will vary for each person. i still consider myself a novice when it comes to actual install of important components so what I call a 5 someone else might call a 2 or 3. Maybe have members call out their level such as: Novice, moderate, advanced, expert, and then have them rate the difficulty of the install 1-5.

tbh, with the stuff i see everyone suggesting in here (which is all awesome!), perhaps there should be yet another forum subsection for the listing of aftermarket parts. that way it reduces clutter within the coupe only forum (or even within the other altima subsections) and provides a greater ease of access to the threads for each individual aftermarket part. also, noobs will have no excuse to say they didnt find anything on the search (because lo and behold, its all listed within each individual section without junk threads floating around in between).

I love it!

I think a modification catalog is an awesome idea! You could set up a static page linked from the altima portal. You could sort the mods and parts by category, then list the individual mods on their own pages. Each individual mod page could have a basic description of the part or mod and the basic goal to be accomplished. Then each could have a cost rating, a difficulty rating, and an impact rating (how big a difference in performance it makes). Then... each page could have links to the NICO sponsor/s who offer the product and links to NICO threads that discuss the topics.

When you're done with Altima you can start on the rest of the Nissans and Infinitis..

LOVE THE IDEA!!!

I like it too - Let me know what resources are needed.

Try and keep the install guides and articles separate (just a word of advice) so it doesn't get too unwieldy.

Altho, if someone wanted to do a listing of all the best Alty install articles, that'd work too!

I like this. It could be sort of like the 240SX tech pages, with the different subcategories and such. One page for the part review with the vendor spot in it, and one page for the install/how-to. Sounds like a pretty cool project.

Thanks very much to everyone!

I have the evening to myself and my computer after my workout this afternoon. I'm going to sit down and sketch out some ideas.

LBC - if you have anytime today after 5:30p your time, shout at me if you have a chance to hop on AIM or gchat. Otherwise, I'll just send you some stuff in an email.

Xenon, when you're coming up with this list of delicious awesomesauce, would you mind putting in the retail prices, as stated on the manufacturer's website? That way when we're ebaying to our heart's desires, we can avoid rip-offs, or steer straight at bargains.

How about a post with all A/C products, comparing prices, options, pros, & cons for example: intakes- show documents providing prices, weight, and hp gains from different companies "dyno-graph"......As a newbie this information being easily reachable would be ideal....and would encourage more competition within the companies and their competitors.......providing us with higher quality products and not crap they are trying to push just because of Brand power...... just my two cents :couch
