i am very sad to let people know that i am the first one to go to nissan for a transmission problem. at 20k miles they say that my transmission needs to be replaced!! i was very upset to hear this considering i was being told to get a toyota the whole time and my parents both own toyotas and they have never had any problems. my car has been with them for a week already and they prolonging the situation. i just wanted to know if neone else has had their 2008 transmission replaced already because this is ridiculous. my email is [email protected]

What happened? What's wrong? 3.5 or 2.5? Mods? Driving style?

You're kinda vague here...

Not the first, and at least it's under warranty.

Some guy on the other Nissan forum had the CVT transmission in his sedan replaced at 60k.

My transmission was replaced at 30K miles in November passed. Shame my baby had to spend her year birthday in the nissan service parking lot collecting dust. Oh well at least i was compensated for it!

I believe mine was the very first transmission to be replaced (along with the clutch) in Aug/Sept '08. The problem with mine was the main clutch bearing seized and pretty much ate itself. Then it spun on the shaft and uploaded the torque onto my transmission input shaft and took out the shaft as well. 46 days off the road (32 days in the shop) - most of them trying to find a transmission and several calls to Nissan Corp. I was finally back on the road. Even though I still visit my local stealership regularly for a shift linkage re-alignment.

I've spent so much time at the dealership that my car has it's own personalized parking spot.

sorry i have not posted at all since my first post! UPDATE....

to provide u guys with a couple of updates.. my car is still at Nissan!!Today they gave me word that Corporate doesn't want to release the car back to me until one of their engineers, whos flying down here, has run a few tests on it. They ended up replacing the ECU and the transmission is fine, apparently they thought the computer was sending it mixed signals on shifting and such. The only thing I have on my coupe are HIDs and 2 JL W7's. I would probably already have rims on my car if i would have had it the past month but s*** happens. Hopefully they will compensate me for all this time lost. The sad thing is that I am leaving the country for a month this thursday and i spoke to nissan today and they are going to have it while im gone!! I know nothings ever 100% but you would expect newer machines to be atleast a little more efficient. First time buying a nissan and was planning on getting and Infiniti after graduation next year but not anymore. This experience has just left me with driving a car that does not belong to me, driving back and forth to the dealership, listening to the same bulls*** stories, and not getting to listen to my system. I will be logging on more often to see if u guys have any feedback on this. The manager at Nissan told me that there has only been ONE other isolated case having to do with the ECU with an 08 coupe. all i hear is bulls*** bulls*** bulls*** .. bulls***...im getting a lexus lol
