yes, it could be a fuse, also on the reverse lights, there is a sensor in the transmission that closes the circut when you put it in reverse, when i frst bought my car, the reverse lights didnt work so i replaced the sensor and cha ching! 15 dollar part at NAPA.

about the left light, so its just the left light? then no not a fuse, make sure you put the lights in correctly and the contacts are clean

Coupe tailights are know for one or two bulbs not working. The problem is the light socket is grounded by a common ground wire and is held in place with a metal screw into the plastic tailight assembly. This plastic gets heat transferred from the light and, over time, melts, making the ground bad, making the bulb not work. Check to make sure all of the screws that hold the sockets to the assembly are tight. That should help.

i got the same problem, only just my reverse lights. the fuse seems fine, but can anyone tell me where exactly the sensor on the transmission is? and maybe a part # or is it a generic part i can get from az or pep boys?

thanks

mission accomplished !

JNM240 is very correct about the plastic getting too hot. on mine it melted the little thing and made the connection loose. i unscrewed it, chipped away some of the melted plastic and screwed it back in together. now i have all my lights working instead of 2 lol

thanks again JNM240 !

im about to go and check one more time and make sure there's no melted plastic that i missed. i was gonna bring my car to this shop.. when i was gonna come back to drop my car off one of the mechanics was like "hey richie!" (my name is not rich). what a d!ck, so ill just wait till i can fix it myself. the fuse for the reverse lights is the very bottom right fuse in the drivers side box.

im also still looking for the reverse sensor info

also, just the other day after i chipped away the plastic so that the metal would make contact with each other... i thought it was good enough. my friend calls me when we're leaving for work... tells me my tail light is out again. so i took a little washer and used it as a spacer, hopefully it wont melt the plastic again

I did that same thing. I even made some rubber washers out of vacuum tubing. Unfortunately the heat is transferred through the wire to the ring to the screw to the pastic, and this is where it melts. I guess if you just solder the wires together and forget about screwing them into the housing it should work. Ive never tried that, i just keep piddling with the grounds whenever they go out.

Twinchy:Its a standard blade style fuse. Any autoparts store carries them, even walmart and walgrees and eckards, ect.... I wanna say its a 15 amp, but im just guessing.

Then your reverse light switch is likely out. It is located on the transmission. Go get one from (fill in the blank, Autozone, PepBoys, NAPA, whomever you like), and find it on the passanger side of the transmission. You should be in business then.

Yes, just ask for a reverse light switch. Make sure they understand that it bolts into the transmission. Also, be sure to tell them Manual or Automatic transmission. I know for certain that the reverse light switch is directly behind the shifter fork on the right (passanger) side of the manual transmission. It unscrews from the transmission itself. I do not know what size wrench to use, sorry, but it cannot be easier. Really.
