Hello all,
Well the vert's lights are acting up. The third spoiler brake light is out, and the screws behind it are stripped. The only though I had was to drill them out, but that led to no avail. So that light is pretty much permanently screwed because I have no other idea on how to get it out.
The driver's side tail light though won't work when brakes are depressed. All other lights work fine (parking, turn, reverse,) but when we step on the brake, the bulbs go out. They have the correct double filament bulbs for being a brake light, and only go in the slot one way, so it's not like they are in there wrong. Any ideas as to why, when the brakes are pushed, both filaments are out, not even one is still on. The bulbs are not burned out.

Open to ideas please as I do not want to get pulled over for only have one brake light.

Allen

It's probably a rubbed wire in the harness somewhere or the socket for your bulb is corroded. If it's the latter, take some rubbing alcohol and some cotton swabs and clean it up. Sometimes, a fine grit sandpaper works too. If it's the former, you'll have to go wire diving. I had an issue where the scissor jack was rubbing against the harness and caused a short in the reverse lights, which led to a blown inhibitor fuse anytime I put the car in reverse.

As for your third tail lamp issue, if you have the screws out, the housing should pop out fairly easy. Just give it a gentle pry if you have the screws completely removed. If not, you can always try to put a drift of some kind in the screw holes, and take a mallet to those to remove it. Sounds like some junk has managed to get in around the housing and seize it into the spoiler.

It sounds like you have the exact same problem as me. First, make sure they are the correct bulbs ( I'm assuming so though.) I unscrewed the brass grounds coming off the bulb holder for the two brake lights on each assembly cover and cleaned it up a little. . I also scratched up the contacts inside the holder that touch the actual bulb. I did that to hope for a better connection since they looked dirty.
