Maybe its just me but im sort of tired reading theAltima Engine, Drivetrain & Tuning Altima Suspension, Brakes, Rims and TiresAltima Audio / Video Altima Interior / Exterior

Forums about all the awesome stuff some one did then realize they did it to there 03 altima sedan and its a part that doesnt even exist for the coupe?

Woudlnt it be easyer to have a sub forum with in the altima coupe general forum thats just specific to this car so you dont have to weed through stuff that doesnt even partain to you?

Look at it like this, you go to the altima coupe forum, then you want to look at altima coupe suspension stuff, its right there you just click on it, it would be at the top like a stickyed subject.

Its pretty basic and simple, it would be more simple than it is now.

It would make the information you read more specific instead of mixed with a ton of crap i dont even care about.

I dont care that a 03 sedan is putting on a nismo suspension, would be easyer to filter the info.

i understand why you would suggest this, but i would have to agree with mehdi and say that ive gotten used to the way it now and splitting it up again would just be a mess of cateragories and sub-cateragories

Look at all your guys posts in altima coupe general forum

HEADERS? (wrong forum its in general should be in "Altima Engine, Drivetrain & Tuning"

The Exhaust Thread (belongs Altima Engine, Drivetrain & Tuning)

STILLEN header poll on 3.5 liter (belongs Altima Engine, Drivetrain & Tuning)

tecnosquare ecu.. (belongs Altima Engine, Drivetrain & Tuning)

STILLEN Fascia Group Buy Interest Poll (belongs Altima Interior / Exterior)

Dropped with 19s (wide 255 tires) (where do you think this one belongs?)

Do i need to go on? You guys dont even want to post in those places becuase they dont partain to your specific car you rather post it in the spot where people read about your car speficly, hence the idea have the sub forum under the altima coupe forum.

This is how it should work.

You click on the "Altima Coupe: 1st Generation (2008 +)" You would see the same general forum

from there if you want to read about altima wheels/suspension click on the "altima coupe wheel/suspension" sub forum.

take a que from my350z.com a very good site.
Welcome Forrest, first off, we arent taking any que from anyone.

Theres a reason why theres 100k members here, you being new, will have to adjust to our format.

Coupe specific items are typically in the coupe section. But if it is something that can apply to the sedan, it will be moved to the appropriate sub forum.

I could address each of your issues, but i dont really feel like taking the time as we dont need to justify anything. I understand you may be familiar with different forum software and sites, but "this is how we do"...

I understand your point Forrest, but dude, you gotta walk b4 you run... you can't just pop into a forum with a post count of "3", and then start suggesting ways to change the forum...

what if you left the forum just as quickly as you came, then they woul have changed up the entire forum format on the suggestion from someone that isn't even a contributoing member... ... not trying to be rude homie, just trying to explain why you are getting flamed...

very well said sir

Forrest-

With the forums the way they were before, the Altima Sedan guys were losing out, having all there posts pushed to the bottom by the coupe guys. Thus, the split. With the forums the way they are. The sedan and coupe guys both have their specific forums, as well as, a mixture of general forums to share ideas. Their are plenty of things in there that coinside with both coupe and sedan.

In the coupe forum, topics created that "could be" coupe and sedan capable, will stay in the coupe forum, until it is verified to by both parties to be interchangable.

Doc poses an interesting point... You are new, if you talk to the guys around here, although there is still "dust" from the last shake-up of the forums (several months ago!) its a grueling task as a MOD to have to re categorize everything new people like you post.... (not a shot at you, but a generalized comment)

Its just too much work, to change, and to upkeep... No one asks the Wall St Journal... "hey can you guys print on white paper from now on, the ink gets on my hands"...

Forrest has a point...

All Altimas post category specific posts in Altima Engine, Drivetrain & Tuning, Altima Suspension, Brakes, Rims and Tires, Altima Audio / Video and, Altima Interior / Exterior that are for Sedans only so their mods are categorized. Even though they are mixed in with things that are for both Coupes and Sedans at least they know it is applicable to their sedan....

If something I want to look at something about Coupe specific about suspension (like the Eibach lowering kit) it gets posted and left in the general Altima Coupe: 1st Generation (2008 +) forum and I would have to weed through everyones posts about "which exhaust?" "which intake?" "hey look at my coupe!" "my new wheels" "i painted my stache" "i got into an accident" "i pooped my pants in my a/c"

There are so many repeat posts in the A/C section because it is not categoized and all the members who are not regulars do not want to take the time to search through a billion posts of peoples wheels and issues to find what they are looking for. Not everyone goes on here multiple times daily for an hour and looks at every post.

That being said... I'm not saying this site sucks or that it is formatted horribly. (if it was it wouldnt be the only Nissan forum I am subscribed to). I am just saying he has a point.

Reposts happen, its not an uncommon thing. Has nothing to do with forum layout, its people not knowing NICO and that its been posted before. He's asking to make 10-15 subforums for the altimas, cause you know once we split up the coupe/sedan modificaitons, then the sedan guys will want to split it up into their generations as well. It would be all out chaos. Maybe in the future the layout will change, but this way works.

I don't do audio, not my thing. So I don't go in the audio section, and I don't have to read posts about things I don't need to hear about. Works well that way

Well played gentlemen.

Being sister cars, there are a large number of modifications (and some parts) that can be applied to all. That's the reason behind the general forums all together. While it can be annoying at times to try and watch multiple forums (believe you me, I have to watch 120+ forums) it would also be bad for the coupe guys to miss a modification the sedan guys do that could be used on the coupe as well, and vice-versa.

The first shakeup was bad enough for the members and the moderators and I think what we have works right now and everyone seems to accept it relatively well. As we get more and more OG's in these forums then future change or improvements can be driven from a concensus of the members and staff.

Bulldog.. dont eat me!

I wasnt saying you persay as far as searching... but reposts happen because... well people dont use the search... and "those people" will probably see this thread and go "ooo ooo i think it needs a re-org" when the truth be told... reading is your friend..

We teach ya HOW to fish here!

If it hasnt been addressed, rest assured a more experienced member will chime in, but if it has been addressed no one wants to re-type their explanation.

The search is your friend!

Instead of threads like "will these wheels fit" why isnt there any that say..."Where can i find out information on..."

this is directed torwards LBC, i dont mean to be calling you out on this or anything, but it irritates me for some reason, i dont know why but it just does, so italianbulldog apologizes for sounding pissy and says hes had a rough couple of weeks and you instantly assume that your life is rougher because you get 5 emails a day with repeat questions, you dont know why italianbulldogs past few weeks have been rough, he could of lost a family member, had his car keyed, or just have been sick, the fact is you dont know, yet you assume that it could be no where near as bad as yours,

dont get me wrong i can assume it would get annoying to keep telling people the same thing all the time but you chose to be a moderator you did not have to accept the position and lets be honest "5 emails" not exactly end of the world numbers,

so i mean no harm, im just saying "tone it down" with the no ones life is as hard as mine thing.

overall though like i said before in an earlier post, i agree leave the altima forums alone, there current set up is good, thats all for now

Go take a look at the G-series forums, then I think you'll see how nice you have it.

We have Both the G35 Sedan, The G35 Coupe, and the G37 lumped into one sub-forum.

The Sedan has gone through 2.5 generations. The coupe through 2. And the G37 shares very little with either of the others.

Yet, we all figure out how to manage.

It might be a good practice to mention "Sedan" or "Coupe" in the thread title. It makes searching easier as well as "weeding".

You make a good point but my350z.com sucks.... maybe some decent info but its full of flamers... just because they have monsterous Z's doesn't mean its a good site. You cannot ask a question with out getting flamed before someone finally answers it, if you get an answer. Nico 350Z forum FTW. We have all the same answers w/out the flaming, just might not have the 700+ whp cars.

Ok i read through every one posts.

First thing, wether my post count is 1 or 1,000,000. It doesnt mean any thing.

If my post count is 1, does that mean i cant reconize something is unorganized? What if my iq is 200? (its not trust me im sure its way low) but i have 1 post? Your not gonna listen to what i have to say?

As for my350z.com im not talking about the members, any little thing you say thats retarded they are all over you, BUT when i want information theres is a wealth of it, and i can access it and i dont worry about other cars being in the mix, its just pure Z for me.

search this and search that? Tell me how the search button helps me in this situation? I want to search "new coupe suspension parts" Guess what i wont find? thats right the info i want.

Guess what i would find if you had a specific altima Coupe suspension forum. If you guys had any new parts i would see it right away becuase im sure it would be a "hot topic". Instead i gotta filter through the other cars that i cant really care about.

As for the sedan guys wanting there own sub forum? Dont you think if they want it, its a good thing? They wont want it if its a bad idea.

The forums should be split where info partains to that car and the generation it belongs to. I dont know the differences between the altima sedans but if theres a new version and its not even close to the older one, im sorry but a good forum would have a section for it, so its fans can get what they need.

The point is, i want to be in the altima coupe forums, not the orgy forums of sedan+coupe, no Search button is gonna help me in that.

1st Generation Altima (1993 - 1997)2nd Generation Altima (1998 - 2001)3rd Generation Altima (2002-2006)4th Generation Altima (2007 +)

Hate to say it, but why not just merge those all together? If they can share the same suspension forum, why not put them all together?

How hard is it, to put a sub forum under each of those generations so those who love that gen only have to deal with the info that is usefull to them?

And my post http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/350107Was moved to Altima Suspension, Brakes, Rims and Tires.

My question was very clear "Once a month i go and download the nismo catalog and hope and pray i see Nismo Suspension for 08 altima coupe and im disapointed every time. How long do you guys think it will take?"

Since the only stuff you move could be usefull to sedans, you tell me how my post has any thing to do with a sedan?

I would like to see a classified and media share(IE: pictures, photoshop, etc) section for Altimas only. Pretty please

The main classified or media share you will never find anything for our cars.

First, you can't compare the activity level of one NICO subforum to My350z. You also can't take "active users" without a grain of salt as it is time dependant. We are set to check active users every 5 minutes or less while other forums may check for activity of users over an hour or so. My350z does have more activity than NICO as a whole and that's completely fine. There also seems to be more BS going on over there than is allowed here.

So, how about I make this easy for everyone. The answer today is "no". Check back in 6 months and we can have this discussion again.

I am glad to see youon the forums and I value your presence. This topic has been discussed many times in the past and we know we can't please everyone, but for now the current setup has been deemed by the staff and administration to be the best format for the forums.

We certainly will consider your suggestions and input into our future decision making processes. If you have further concerns, please email either myself, or one of the admin team.
