Dear mother of god, someone please help me.

I cannot get my sunroof all the way forward. It's off the track or something.

I've tried pushing / pulling / lifting / pressing on both sides and ends while moving it back and forth.
The left side doesn't want to move with the chain and about halfway forward the glass gets caught and stops moving.

I would remove the glass, but I can't access some of the bolts underneath.
I would remove the tracks, but I can't access two of the bolts up top.
I would try turning the motor by hand, but the miniature screw stripped with no resistance at all, and I can't get it out or back in.

I've got the whole assembly sitting on top of my car right now. Wat do?!

Here's the assembly, sitting on top of my car.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP :bs: :wtf2: :gotme :ohno:

EDIT: As an incentive, if you guys help me then I'll do a writeup on how to remove your headliner and another writeup on how to remove the sunroof assembly.

something is binding. take it apart, inspect it, and re assemble. make sure to grease it with lithium grease any movable parts including the track.

removing the headliner and sunroof is straight forward. just careful on prying plastic pieces. these are twenty years old plastic pieces.

this what sucks about old sunroof.

I feel your pain. I personally don't have any experience with these, but I'll do a little digging and see what I come up with.

I only broke one clip pulling the headliner... that's pretty good in my book.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to pull the chains out and remove the motor. Didn't want it to come to this, though.

Maybe the limit switch is faulty or has been tripped somehow. Here's a view from the FSM if you don't have one.

Edit: This may be stupid but also check out the front stoppers and the adjustment.
Hope you get this sorted out.

Let me grab you a pic of the wiring diagram for the sunroof real quick.

Looks like it is just a two wire switch. Positive is purple with white stripe. Ground is black. I'm guessing that when the ground comes in contact it stops the motor, but don't take my word for it. Maybe try unplugging it and see if the motor will kick.

I tried unplugging and shorting out the pins as well; no go. Behaved the same way.

I figured it out though.

I took out the motor, one of the cables (more on this in a second), and removed the tracks.

The cable on the drivers side broke off the sliding thing, which is why the sunroof was dragging a** on that side. I think it sucked up the drivers side cable, so that after about halfway of pulling it in, it was hitting the end of the tube and causing the motor to lock up (keeping the other good cable from going all the way forward).

Dunno if that makes sense or not. Trying to source a track + slider + cable right now. Here's a diagram:

I'll have some more questions though, in a second.

Good job man. I'm sure this thread will help somebody out one day. Here's a link to some sunroof parts from Courtesy nissan parts.
