I dunno, 2 of my friends have 240s, a '90 fastback and a '93 coupe

From what I've seen... fastback, but I seriously doubt the difference is noticable

the only way it could ever be a difference is if you drove one for years, and then switched to the other for 1 day, maybe. all that is required is ability and rwd.

ability+control=drift. pick the one you have the most control over (not like there is a huge differance)

this is a frequently revisited topic.......you can search and get additional insight, .. the coupe is believed to have a more rigid chasis....however the fastback is far more populaur for drift competitions....this is because....

1. it looks better (to most people, don't get all mad coupe owners, i'm not dissing....i like em both)(see point 2)2. there are far more body kits available for the fastback (which demonstrates that aeropart companys prefer the fastback)3. drift competions are about style.....part of the style is represented by a good looking car.

as for the coupe having a more rigid chasis....well the ONLY purpuse built drift car was made by nissan the sileighty....based on the fastback....so make your own judgement.....either way being as you are a beginner to drifting....you will be more than happy with either.

once again i am not stepping trying to step on the toes of coupe owners.

There is about 50lb difference. The rest is up to your taste. Coupes seem harder to find.(up here in the Pacific NW anyways)I personally like the lines of my coupe

I would say the coupe. With it being a bit lighter in the back you should have better weight distribution and less understeer.

hatchback pwnage!:D hatchback > coupe any day of the week (and twice on Sundays).

like the guys have said, it's really a preference issue. for the most part, it seems that the differences in weight and chassis rigidity are negligible. i prefer the look of the hatch, overall, but i would love to own both.

i think its all about preference. Only difference is the look and the weight between the two. But i'm biased and love hatchbacks!! so get a hatch!

the coupe is by far more appealling to me just becasue the lines flow, espceially the spoiler less coupes with the jdm fronts. But as far as drifting goes i will agree with the majority and say it is personal preference.

that is an interesting statement.....seeming as most everyone on this thread seems to like the coupe...either way you would not see more coupes on the road..being that exsisting coupe would just be changing ownership..... anyone have the stats as to how many coupe and fastbacks were sold? i think i will start a new thread to see how many people here have a coupe or fastback...im curious now.

Judging by what I see on the streets of socal, it seems like the 89-90 fastback must have been the highest selling 240
