okay so i wanted to post this up while my memory is still fresh and because its my first time going at it with another car =D. So my friend has the porsche cayenne S which im assuming all of you know is the V8 version. I know the SUV is pretty heavy but it pushes stock like 385 hp and i think 368 lb torque. So I thought he should have some type of advantage. So we are going at about 35 mph roll and both gun it at the count of 3. for the 1st 2 seconds I pull on him about a couple inches and stay there for the rest of the time untill ~105 mph. The I obviously stopped cause it was a bit fast for it being dark out and all. but i was amazed at how my alty did so well.

Outside temperature was about 48 F with no wind and very clear out.Modifcations: Injen short ram intake , which I installed a few days before.

GO VQ ENGINES!!!

not bad! i remember racing a SS trailblazer. they have like 400 HP. it was a close race and about a tie..... i'm surprised the Porsche didnt get you at the end. with our 3.5se CVTs, they tend to get slower at 90 MPH. they get slower but can still go pretty decent... till you hit 120. anything over 120 and it takes FOR EVER!!!

hahah its funny because in my mind i was thinking, "okay why isnt the nice v8 kickin in and passing me at around 90 mph." The cayenne was also auto and on sport mode.

I got it up to 132-133. But like what Hussain said, it was getting up there pretty slow after 120. You can try if you want, just be careful though. I did it out on a freeway where the nearest city/town was about 35 miles away. Wasn't it the 2.5's that couldnt go past 120?

hm, that would explain alot. i tried going over 120 while driving back from Vegas on monday, havent went over 100 since i've installed the Injen. I was passing thru Mojave and it seemed like it took forever while i was at 115.... i guess the strong winds didnt help either...

2.5 = 110mph limit.3.5 = 127mph limit although I think some have up to 147mph limit.

Just get the BullyDog so you can take it off.

I hit about 145~150 in Colorado at around 2am during my cross-country drive. Didn't try to push it beyond that because the car started feeling super sloppy, especially on those crappy turanza tires. Plus, the speedo was barely inching upwards after 140 or so. Everything was stock 3.5SE 6MT, so that 147 figure a couple posts above sounds about right.

b with the bully dog, the CVT's computer overrides the setting, and you can't change the rev limit of max speed limitt....

lol the turbo s would EAT me. It was just the V8 S =D

Another thing about the CVT, i got a letter in the mail today saying the they are extending the warrenty to 10 years/120,000k due to the "very little" complaints about repairs and replacements. I hope my transmission doesnt go out =/

Are you sure? I could have sworn I read numerous postings of people going over 127 with it, even with the 2.5.

My 3.5 does the same - it seems like 100+ the speed starts to creep slower. And I got it up to about 135 and it pretty much stayed right there. I would have pushed harder but I saw headlights in the distance and decided slowing down was the smarter option.

All I know is my car will not pass 127, even after changing the max speed... I don't believe anything to the contrary, not in a CVT... I would think manuals are good to go though

Yeah I have a 3.5 CVT everytime a race I know my stopping point is 125 beyond that it jsut feels like the car cant go any fast.... and with the 9 points I just racked up on my license in the last 3 months I need to slow the F&^% down.... I tried to get a Cayenne Turbo to race but I was behind and coudnt get next to him... The Turbo is pushing 400+ So Im pretty sure he would have beat me...

Nice Race though
