sounds like you arent breaking traction.

how are you initiating the drift?

wait longer into the slide before you countersteer then. try this

stay wide open throttle, slight turn into the corner, clutchkick, wait for rear to come out more, then let the wheel slide through your fingers for countersteer. make sure you STAY ON THE GAS.

thanx. i'd read in a few other posts not to ever let the wheel spin freely but, to always manually countersteer. does it really make any difference?

you need to be stupid fast to countersteer as fast as the car can push the rear end out.

personally, i always let the wheel slide through my fingers. dont let GO, let it slide.

Yup, let the steering wheel slide through you fingers till you catch your angle, grip steering wheel, keep the rear tires spinning and hang on for the ride. (by hang on for the ride i mean you have to adjust throttle and give slight steering adjustments from the point you gripped the steering wheel at to maintain a proper line). It would be impossible to manually countersteer.

It's not impossible to manually countersteer...Think about it guys. I'm sure you're drifters (Kamin, I KNOW you are)

You're just not thinking about it. When you enter a deep corner that takes a shallow entry (hold it straight-ish before corner entry) do you just let the wheel slide all the way? No you turn it back and hold it.

For a deep angle drift, then spinning the wheel is the way to do it. Sometimes you can encourage the wheel along by directing it..."Throwing" it, if you will.

Generally, if you're snapping back, you're not sideways enough. Exiting your slide, remember to steer back straight or you'll snap and spin.

Nobody said to let it slide back all the way...just enough to where you think you're countering enough. One can release again if its not enough or adjust into/away from the turn if its too little/too much. For high angle, fast drifts (which is generally what people are talking about when mentioning drifting), I agree that it's more or less impossible to counter fast enough without letting go of the wheel.

i have never been able to steer the wheel as fast as i can throw it. especially not in the hachi i had in japan, that as$$ end would come out in a hurry.

something that helped me with over countersteer, try straitening out the wheel eariler. if you are learning you dont have a good feel for how much tracksion the car has and how quick it will be gained back. Genrally after the apex you will want to start reducing your angle for a smooth exit, not wait until the rear catches grip before attempting to straiten the wheel. :\ dont try to hold the maximum countersteer angle that you can on the drift until the end, try to straiten out eariler, it will prolong your slide and smooth out your exit.

so hard to give specific tips \ tricks ove the internet w\ out knowing the drivers particular experiance.

go to a drift class so the instructor can see what your doing. Many times what you think your doing is different than what actually going on. Check for classes in you area and get help..
