They arent supposed to. Surely they arent supposed to have their OWN interests at heart, but they arent supposed to have THE MAJORITY's interests at heart either. They are supposed to have the interest of their constituents at heart. A small "let it slide" in tough times when we are not deficit spending and going further in a hole is one thing, what the Gov is doing today is something completely else that we simply will never be able to sustain.
