You know I have told y'all before that I have my cordless radar detector mounted on my windshield above my rear view mirror. Perfect spot. Easy to reach and out of sight of theives.

I tried to put it back this morning after them replacing my windshield and it doesn't fit properly?!?!? Is it possible that they mounted the mirror a bit higher? Now if I want my detector up there I'm going to have to drive with the mirror a tad crooked. I'm afraid that I am to OCD for that.

They really ranked that low? That surprises me. Do you know why they rated so poorly?

I can see why... I had them replace a busted seat relay a few months ago (my seat wouldn't move forward anymore), and now the problem is back again. In fact, the seat actually moves on it's own at random times...

When I get some time, I'm about to get under there and see what I can do to take it out...

Modifying the radar detector holder/bracket should be possible to fix the issue.

I would have thought there should be a template where they mount the rearview though.

That is common whenever you have a windshield replaced.I wouldn't consider that a quality problem.Have you had your car since new? If not the mirror may not have been where the factory sets it and your dealer reset it to where it belongs. You could call them up and tell them you don't like where they put the mirror and would they put it back where it was. Take your rader detector ,into a car, on their lot and see if it fits okay, over that mirror. If it does fit, measure down from the top and tell them you would like your mirror at that height.

^True.

It shouldn't be very hard to remove and reapply the mirror if needed.

Mine is just to the left of the mirror. Wired in with a stealth cord.

Because I live in a city full of thugs. When it is high like that, nobody can see it. Also, the mirror gives it some support. I have little foam pads on the mirror so it wont make noise. I will try bending the bracket and fooling with it more this weekend when I have the time. If I can't get it to work, I'm gonna make them move my mirror. I didn't realize it would be that easy.

Thx guys.

it also depends on what your using the detector for. best place to mount it is even with the back seat in the middle of the windshield. that will have the most effective coverage for laser and everything else. whereas the mirror spot gives very low laser detection but looks nice and clean. if laser isnt the concern then mirror is the way to go.

My laser signal hardly ever goes off. (maybe because of my mount ) They must not use laser much here.

My detector has always saved me. I love it. Haven't had a speeding ticket since 1977. Got pulled over once for wreckless driving, but he let me go.

right then in that case your right no need for the low mount since laser isnt common in your area so best look for you is what you have.

theres a website somewhere that tells you what signals are most used in your state. i researched all that stuff hard before i got my setup.

ps what detector do you have?

It is an Escort. I would have to go outside to get you the model number. I have had it for years. I like it because it is so small. I bought one for my hubby a couple of years after mine and his is bigger and more square. Mine is small.

Here....it is like this but mine is an older model https://www.escortradar.com/st....html

my v1 is mounted right below the mirror and has saved me from lazer 5 out of 7 times thus far...

you only have seconds once the lazer hits to slow down before it gets a speed reading... unless it catches the lazer boucing off the car in front of you or through a windsheild... need a lazer jammer for true proctection

i was coming over a hill going 60, lazer warning went off, slammed brakes officer clocked me at 54mph in a 45.

Funny speeding story.....

Long time ago I had a '76 Camaro and I worked for a Chevrolet dealership. I was coming up a viaduct about 1/2 from where I worked. I had punched it as soon as I got on the bridge. Loud pipes and it sounded good in between those concrete walls. Well...as I topped the bridge, a cop was coming up the other side. He hit his lights, but I knew he would have to get to the bottom of the bridge to turn around. I just stayed in it, whipped into the dealership, pulled between some cars and ducked. It was, after all, a Chevrolet dealership. Cop went flying down the road with his siren and lights. When he passed, I just pulled back into my usual parking space. The salesmen were cracking up when I came in.

Now y'all see me for my true self. I'm an outlaw.

post a pic of where you have it mounted. i live in VA where radar detectors are illegal (they actually use radar detector detectors here), and ive been looking for a hidden place to hide a V1 or other like detector.

Does your mirror have the double ball joints like the older Gs do? If so, try adjusting the upper ball joint to move the entire mirror down, then use the lower ball joint for aiming. It's possible that the mirror is in the exact same spot as before, but the balls aren't playing nicely.

Yours might be a female...

It may not have the ball joints. I know that my old G did as well as my 96 I30. The I30 had one at the attachment point of the arm and the back of the mirror. The G's had one in the same place and another at the end of the arm attaching to the window.

Oh Oh... You might have to go post another topic for G's names if it turns out to be something different .... I hate infinity dealerships, well i've only been to two different ones, and one of them had swindling sales reps, and the other PUT FU**EN non synthetic oil in my car (with no heads up)! I prefer taking my G to a private shop that deals with luxury vehicles and has the computer software compatible with our cars ...Ps....i live these icons

Check out Riverside Infiniti. I've had 80% good experience with them. One of the parts reps is a good friend of mine. Mike Longhorn is a really great service rep. Helped me save $1100 on the G's seat last year when a faulty weld gave way.
