I have a 1995 S14 240SX. I recently took it to a dealership and had them change out my EGR Solenoid and clean out the EGR hoses. On the way home my check engine light came on. So I hooked up me diagnostic tool, and it said that my EGR System wasn't functioning correctly. So, I took my car back to the dealership and had them clean out the hoses again. On my way home the second time, the light came on again. This time it gave me the code: P0420. Under the code it said, "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold." So my theory is that when the dealer cleaned out my EGR hoses, they blew some stuff into the Catalytic Converter and clogged it up. I was wondering if anyone else had recieved this code and what they did to resolve this problem. If it is the Catalytic Converter, I'll probably just switch it out with a test pipe. Is it difficult to switch out the Converter on an S14? All help would be greatly appreciated.

changing out the cat on an s14 is stupid easy. i'd go with another cat or maybe a hi-flow cat before a test pipe. you won't see any gains anywhere with a test pipe on a stock exhaust.

if your gonna get a new cat trade the old one in. Because of the recession prices of metal have gone down, but like a year or two ago be and a buddy traded 2 240sx cat's and a supra cat in and got 350 bucks. Everybody could use a free hundred scrap metal places usually take them and imports are usually worth the most they have white gold and platinum in them aftermarket cat though are only worth about 10 bucks one of my other friends was mad when he found that out
