Hi, all.

As a placement for my current Y34 (2003 M45), I am considering the Q70L (the longer wheel-base model) as my next possibility some time down the road.

Since I am really much into performance driving (well, sorta!), I think the extra leg room in the rear could be a significant good thing for people in the rear. Things are a bit cramped there in my current Y34.

Anyone have a Q70L here and can comment on how well the car has done for you? Thanks!

Z

I have a 70QL and love it. When I have people in the back sit they rave on the leg room and the limousine quality ride. I also drive it in the sport mode all the time and find the car to be responsive. I did not get the sport package because of the low profile tires that are susceptible to failure when driven over pot holes. I simply move the shift level to the right to change gears when needed. You need to drive one to appreciate how good the car rides.

Thanks! I plan to test-drive one soon and see how it does ...

Oops, I was supposed to say "am not really much into performance driving anymore".

But, it does sound like the Q70L does not give up in that regard!

Bruh, you're a moderator. Edit your post :rotflmao

I'm sure you will love this car...I do. Still, after owning it almost a year. And the L is simply baller.

I have a q70l great for space.
My is lowered on coilovers, its no sports sedan fyi. Dont get me wrong it does ok, but you will have understeer going around corners quickly.
It looks amazing thow ,i like long cars.

but being so long it needs extra room to turn in tight spaces, very much so in reverse.

Had a Q70L as a loaner once. I'd probably look at one in the future if it came with a 'S' option. I liked the size of the back seat. 3 kids in the back of my M is possible, but not ideal for any long length of time.

I took 4 chicks (yep, 4) and myself to FL from NY and it wasn't that bad. We stopped every 3-4hrs for 20-30 min and no one really complained. Had the trunk loaded (women ) and even while on coilovers, car did great.

My issue is I'm tall and sit back far along with a baby's car seat that takes a lot of room in the back.

Well I guess that's true. A 6'0"+ dude != 5'5" chick.

In an M, right?

My Y34 is a bit cramped for leg-room in the back ... the car is simply not as wide or as long as my old first-gen Q45.

Hence, I am looking at the Q70L to see if the rear space in that car is worth it. But, I don't want to give up a lot of performance, although at my age, it does not matter as much as it used to anymore! :chuckle:

Yes, my 2007 M35x. Two of the girls were average sized, 5'6" or so and 140lb...one was like 5'2" and 110lb and the 4th was like 5'7" 120lb. Not big girls, but also not midgets. They all fit more than fine.

Yeah, I think your M has more room than my 2003 M45 ... :yesnod

I could get three people in the rear area, but I would need to move my seat forward and they would not be comfortable for a long trip ...

Regarding the front seat, I'm 5'11" and 230lb...my legs aren't crazy long, but I have a bit of a 'gangsta lean' driving position lol.

I think the M is pretty decent sized car...my friend calls it a land yacht lol.

After owning a M45 for four years and taking a break with Lexus, I ran back to the M, now Q. I purchased the Q70L in Jan 2015 and couldn't be happier.
Below are a few reasons for my decision of the L:

- I enjoy not having to pull up my seat each time a passenger taller than 5' 5'" gets in the rear of the vehicle.
- The L gives the Q a nice long and lean stance, more luxurious, IMHO.
- I do have the sport package, which handles great. Agreed on the 18" wheels providing a better ride, but the sport wheels are better looking.
- It's $1500 more for 6", why wouldn't you want it, adding only 100 pounds.
- Not to mention the trim on the bottom that comes with the L is classy.

Best of luck in your decision. Know you can't go wrong either way.
