okay so i have some noises coming from the front of the timing chain cover. so i rread some treads on this forum and i removed the top timing guide between the two sprockets. my chain is still very tight, motor only had 90 k on it so i didnt remove any tensioners. noise still persist, was i wrong?

So then i used scewdriver and listened for where the noise was. it led me to the hump on the front upper timing chain cover. Could it just be a bad gear where the distributer connects to the timing chain?Any help would be appriciated

pretty shure its a timing issue... 240's are infamous for them... as for where exactly the noise is coming from thats kinda hard to just say, normally when you get a timing job they replace all sprockets and chains, guides, and tensioner... but nistech is definatley for sure to have a better view of what exactly may be going on... although it sounds like a timing issue.

Probably your lower chain. Even tho it doesn't have slack, when the large amount of pressure the chain has while turning is pushing on that tensioner it still might not push the guide all the way.
