hey everyone, just bought a 240sx with a notch top sr20det motor. car was running fine when i got it, then one day as i was driving home it started to bog out on low rpms. At low rpms it bogs a lot but as the rpms go up it disappears. The car idles fine its just when i start driving thats when it starts to bog. changed mafs bogging got worse and lots of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. previous owner said the car sat for a while not sure if the problem could also be clogged injectors.

also the car makes a sqeaking sound and im not sure if its the belts or the tensioner. anyone know anyways to figure out if its the belts or the tensioner?

any help would be great thanks in advance.

well usually if its a maf it dosent let u go past 2 or 3000rpm,but if u say that it starts to go away at higher rpms it could be injecs,or fuel presure aswell might try with those first, the black smoke should just be to much fuel so ur running really rich so check all ur fuel parts that could be ur problem

your maf may be dirty...try cleaning it with electronic cleaner also check the voltage to it..should get a 12v reading from one wire and a 5v from the other..the last wire is a ground...also check your tps voltage..at idle it should be .45volts to .55volts and w.o.t. should be 4.5volts also your ecu may be bad a way to tell is by looking at the l.e.d. on the back of the ecu..turn the key on and this l.e.d. will come on..now start your engine the l.e.d. should go off..if it doesnt you have a bad ecu..also your fuel filter may be clogged and yes one or two of your injectors may be clogged and not opening until higher rpms...pull your coil packs out and then take the fuel rail off with the injectors still in...start the engine and you will be able to tell if one or two or however many are not spraying properly

ok so checked it out while test driving something started burning, lifted the hood and smelt the engine. it was the first coil pack at the front of the engine. somehow the clip connected to the coil pack burnt and melted to the coil pack. also wires inside the car fried too. Is the coil pack burnt or is it something else and could this be the problem why the car is bogging out. after disconnecting the first coil pack the car seems to run good at idle and doesnt seem to have any bogging problems (moving car from driveway to garage).

yes a bad coilpack could cause bogging, misfiring, hesitation...what wires in your car melted?

all sr coilpacks are the same and you dont need the harness unless you messed yours up somehow

S15 sr20det coilpacks have built-in ignitors unlike the s13 and s14 sr20.
