Car got a few probs but the one that concerns me atm is it seems like everytime i start the car for the first time that day a few things comes up. first my clutch pedal only has some pressure halfway when i pushed on it. and the pedal also only comes up halfway at times. I literary have to use my feet to bring it all the way up. but i did some search here that might be the prob so i dont really need help on that. the second is and what might tie into the first prob is when i try and go to first gear the thing would not go in. as if something is blocking it (clutch not engage?) and other gears are also locked up. So i ocassionaly try and go to reverse gear but that thing grinds like a bioch. hurts my ears... however after a few tries with depressing the clutch a few more times the gear then slips right in and everything seems fine. Nothing wrong when shifting just when i start the car for the first time... every other starts from that day is all good and the locking problem is gone.. So transmission or could it be the clutch?

Cars a s13 HB sr20 btw

Id say its neither, replace your clutch master and posibly the slave as well.

Hmm Ill try that and see if it fixes it. and is the clutch hydraulic? you guys dont see that being an option? for the clutch pedal to only come back up half way

The clutch is hydro. If you can pump it a few times to get it in gear the seals in the master might be leaking internally.

yes after a few good pumps the gears do fall in quite nicely and clutch pedal seems to be fine. I havent been able to try the other methods till thursday but if its as you say then im going to have to drop the transmission huh...

It is definitely a hydraulic system issue. Slave and master cylinders are fairly inexpensive. If installing yourself, make sure to bleed the system properly to ensure there are no air bubbles.

Both Slave and Master cylinders can be changed without dropping the transmission. Hope you read this before you get started!
