Just like the topic states wtf is this? I found this inside of the hose that attachs to the exhaust side valve cover. Same diameter as the hose itself, seems like it was purposely put in there to restrict airflow. Anyone?

ThanksWei

whoa... kinda looks like the piece inside the PCV valve. No idea why it would be in the hose though.

Its some kind of resrictor, I'm not sure exactley why nissan put it in there but it is stock, maybe to resrict how much oil gets dumped into the intake at once at high rpm??? Thats my best guess.

Same thing I told him. My RB had one too, but it was plastic, But my RB also had one in the BOV recirc hose, causing tons of surge and an almost silent noise. Man was I glad when I found that thing and tore it out...

as far as i know, it is a restrictor put into the line to prevent large chunks of sludged up oil from moving thru the hose. on 80's cars, they inserted something that looked like a pipe cleaner or a mini honing bit into the line to accomplish this task. I've never seen something like that before, but i'd imagine thats what its used for

Mine had it as well. I thought that it was put in there to create a pressure differential between the suction side of the turbo and the valve cover to induce greater suction so that more air would be drawn out of the Crankcase. I put mine back in.

it's mainly there to help keep oil from being sucked up and going into the intake.
