there have been rotary engines in several cars besides the RX-7, some not even mazda. GM and mercades were the first after the war to buy the rights to use a rotary, there was even a 4 rotor vette, but neither company could get them running right due to the intrecacy of the timing of the engine. mazda however solved this and the apex seal problem and produced the 10a in the 1st production vehicle in 65 which was the cosmo. the rx-3, rx-4, rx-5 (cosmo) all have rotary engines, there was even a mazda repu which used a 12a in a pickup truck

[/quote] thats not true either.... the gazelles and [edit * S12's] came in limited #'s in japan with nissan's own experimental rotary back in the 80's. the engine was very similar to mazda's 12A, however nissan scrapped the idea.
