cost of vvt solenoid

how much do they usually run for, someone quoted me at 175 but that seems a little steep.

I wouldnt even bother with buying a new selenoid and just put that money toward a set of cams. More power potentail in the long run...

well, my car is not running right, and ive herd that it could be the vvt going bad. so, what good is new cams if the car isnt running right, are cams gonna disable my vvt

A bad VTC solenoid will not cause a car to not run...

You should be able to unplug the selenoid and it will run just the same, check all your other sensors. You are going to have to be more specific about what is going on with it for more help. I'm not sure if you can swap cams and keep the VVT or not but most people just get rid of it. But I know that the power you will get from cams with more duration and lift will far exceed what you get from the VVT(low end torque).
