I'm new to the scene, specifically the costs of work on import transmissions. I am considering buying a friends 91 240sx. It is a 5speed, with about 150000 on both engine and transmission. It feels like the 2nd gear synchros are out and I was just curious if you guys knew how easy of a fix this is, and assuming I have a friend that knows about cars in general, could I fix it myself? Thx for any reply

easier and cheaper to find a transmission that's got the working synchros.

ditto. if you want to just get her going then find a junkyard transmission. if you are looking for a fun project/headache(thats what most car projects are right?) then you should take it apart and rebuild it.
