Hi there,

Unfortunately I have to bring my car in a 2nd time for a TPMS reset, and that got me thinking. What happens once our Versas are out of warranty? Are we going to get charged $50 a pop to have a TPMS reset? Is Nissan eventually going to step up to the plate and replace our BCMs or come up with a firmware update? Or are we going to get nailed on this TPMS issue?

Actually, Nissan should replace your sensors or possible BCM as necessary - there's a technical service bulletin been out for a while on this. Don't let your dealer reset the TMPS, that does nothing. Also, check out the search feature - this has come up several times before and been discussed at length.

I would really consider talking to the service manager about this if you think it will be an issue. Explain to them that this is a problem and just reseting the TPMS will not solve the issue.

I know there is a TSB but didn't know if they were actually replacing the sensors or BCMs unless they deemed it necessary. I'm thinking Nissan is poised to happily reset the TPMS light until I"m out of warranty and have to pay through the nose to have it reset. I hope they would just replace the faulty parts. BTW, anyone have a link to the TPMS TSB?

Found it:

So, hopefully I get the special error code that says "replace this guy's BCM". Wish me luck!

Any tire place with a handheld TPMS tool can reset the sensors for little to nothing cost-wise.

NEVER LET THEM RESET THE TPMS!!! CALL 1-800-NISSAN-1 IF THEY DO IT AGAIN.

The dealer I go to says that Nissan wants them to replace the failed sensor or BCM. A bad batch made it to the cars. Resetting is a temparary solution & can last 1 day or 1 month.
