Ok, I've got a '97 240 and am looking to do an S14 sr20det swap. I've got $3800 for the engine and whatever else I'll need (doesn't include labor). Is this even possible, or should I get some more money. I'm only looking for a stock setup at first. I'm in Kentucky and was looking at zerolift.com which is close to me (Cincinatti, OH). I searched here and found a negative thread about them. Has anyone else had a bad experience with them? Thanks

If you can inspect before the purchas and pick up the motor its safe to buy from anywhere, because you will know if its not crap/is crap before hand. $3800 seems like a good budget for a near stock stock S14 SR swap.

Get a clip so you get all the accessories. Things get expensive when you do the swap w/ 50 aftermarket parts...like me.:pface

Ok, thanks for the reply and the list. When you say wiring are you talking about the uncut wiring harness? Zerolift's website says they sell this for $200. Also, will the engine from Zerolift come with SMIC and piping, or will I have to get all the intercooler parts on my own. And for a stock setup, couldn't you leave alot of that stuff off there for the time being? Like exhaust, radiator, fuel pump, turbo timer, and boost controller? Thanks for the help.

Or you can do what I did and purchase your clip from Jarco in GA, which includes(for example using a redtop)$2695 for the clip which includes...be ready for this one:D

Full Clip, piping , intercooler, rad, etcMine came with battery AND 180sx key in ignition to start it if I wanted to.Odometer to verify milesYou will get the 180sx Fuel pump REAR END assembly(Differently/shafts/whole rear end more or less)DriveshaftMine even came with aftermarket horns and a mint dash/glovebox AND digital climate control. As far as I know, nobody gives you that much stuff with your clip purchase for no additional cost. Hell, they even gave me two free t-shirts:D

Also, my clip was damn near spotless, and has perfect compression across the board. They has a office in GA AND a office in Japan. They do not buy junk clips from yards...THEY are the importers AND suppliers. They have their own employees pick the cars they cut to guarantee a good running motor. They purchase cars they have tested and drove in, then cut them in half and ship them over.

If you want to start from scatch and run stock as well as work on a budget, then I would suggest going that route. All in all it's cost me around 3k to get it into my car and running, and I did the install myself. Im running completely stock with everything that came in my clip and my car, stock SR dp, stock KA exhaust, stock fuel pump(do not abuse your SR until you upgrade to at least a Walbro)no boost controller.

You can then sell some of the parts off the clip and make some money back or use them on your car if you are missing/have damaged pieces.

Give them a call, ask for Michael and tell him Ralph from Tampa, FL sent you:D He'll take care of you, if its RB, SR, @2JZ, whatever you want to drop in a 240.

When did you get your front clip for Jarco. I went on their website and it says they don't have any in stock.

You have to call jarco, they sell ALL their nissan stuff before it even hits the shore. Last month they had about 30 nissan clips listed as "on the water" comming from japan, not one made it to the "in stock" list.

I picked mine up about 3 weeks ago...ordered about 1 1/2 ago. They were getting 3 containers within weeks of each other and I got one of the last 3 they hadnt sold before it even hit the shore. They had 10 SR's total, and as far as I know are expecting to have more within a month or so. The price and the time is worth waiting.

Did you have it shipped from GA? How much did this cost? Did you pay someone else to do the swap? Was labor more cause you have to take out 2 engines instead of one?

I did the same thing as RiceBurner. I bought my clip from Chip(cardinalperformance in Georgia) He ran it for me while I was there. It came complete(radiator, i/c and piping, downpipe, gauge cluster, brakes etc. etc.). I did not get the rear end with it though. Everything else is there if you want it. I spent $2400 for the clip and used everything off of it. Had a great running stock setup. I think I spent an additional $50 to fabricate my own test pipe, and buy various fluids.

Labor from a shop to do the install may be a little more if they have to pull the swap from a clip, but it shouldn't be very much.

I got my clip from Chip and it was the same deal as yellow_jacket. Got my last august, paid $2700 (back then, don't know what prices are now), but that came with the full rear subframe (with VLSD) and driveshaft.

Excelent guy to work with and like yellow_jacket got to hear it run before laying out the cash.

Basically for my SR in the car, no 3" exhaust, no cone filter, no mods it cost me $3071.31. That was with a self install, the clip/VLSD mentioned above, HT install kit, HT tune up kit, walbro fuel pump, wiring supplies, shop towels, fluids, oil dry, and a Autometer phantom mech. boost gauge. That is about as base as I would go.

Now of course after saying that....who could just stick to that so I ended up spending $4753.88 with full 3" exhaust, greddy oil pan, greddy oil filter relocation kit, cone filter, ACT clutch and a couple of other things.
