Hey guys i wanted to know if anyone has had there KA rebuilt and how much it was. My engine is putting out blue smoke out the a$$ and its getting worse. It has 140,000 miles and is a 1991. Any help would be appreciated.

PS: it seems the rings are the cause of the smoke.:(

sounds like it's time for a SR swap or rebuild it for turbo 3,500 bucks each way!

It would be more than 3,500 dollars each way.

If you had a company do the rebuild for you, it would cost probably 1200-1500 dollars. If you buy the kit yourself and do it, it will cost you about 400.

If you just want to replace the stock engine, you may want to look at purchasing a KA off of someone else, you can find them on partstrader, and the 240sx.org classifieds usually.

Good Luck! : )

Hey guys thanks for the response; I guess I will have to consider my choices (duh). It's just funny how it feels like its at a 100% but when you look at the tail its not. Anyway, I'm rambling so I'll stop.

you should rebuild it your self. Or look around in a salvage yard for a used motor

you could proabably find a decent low mi swap for 7-900.theres a place close to me that totaly redoes the motor for 2200 but you have a warrany for 7yr/70000 mi.......the motor is brought to oe specs , balanced and blueprinted.

I think I'll choose an engine for a swap since it seems more logical. Plus if I rebuild it myself I'll probably screw something up along the way and probably won't see it till I have everything back in place. And downtime is at a premium since I am a student. I don't think my mom will lend her car to me to go to college, she'll tell me to use public trans. Anyway, thats too much information.
