Cost of a 240Z Hatch

I seriously feel retarded starting a thread to ask what seems to be such a simple question. But I've done some searching, and can't seem to come upon an example for sale. Enter the word "hatch" into the search and all you get are 240SXs and S30 guys saying that theirs are rusted. So, what do good-condition hatches (defined here as solidish... no rust holes pretty much) go for? And while I have a tarded thread up and running, are the hatches still available new? I checked at the Nissan dealer and they are NLA, and a few searches on Google didn't turn up much.

so let me clear this up a bit, you are looking to buy a new hatch, for your???.....Z31? and you are wondering what is a good suorce for new and what a fair price used would be? well as far as buying a new one, check your local phone book for auto body parts, most likely there si a local supplier that can sell you a new hatch for less than the cost of you shipping one in from elsewhere, as for used prices, youu just gotta check your local salvage yards, and if you can find someone parting out a car in your area

No... a hatch for a 240Z. I know where to get Z31 parts, but I'm new to the S30 family. My S30's hatch is rusted beyond repair, and I haven't found any for sale locally. Well, that's not technically true. But all the hatches had a 240Z attached to them.

The question was what the average cost for a 240Z hatch was. I don't see where the confusion comes from...?

you referenced searching for "hatch" and then seemed disappointed that all the results are S30 or S13/14 related, and your profile shows only the Z31, guess I shoulda read the title

anyhow, I'm suprised you aren't finding them in local boneyards? I know I've scraped a few myself, might want to get in contact with your local ZCCA club, chances are someone in the club either has a parts car knows of one or at least what junkyards have S30's

The only 240Z I have seen at a junkyard wasn't a junker, it was owned by the lady who ran the yard. I have found a 280Z but... it's hard to exaclty describe what happened to this car. I've heard of wood grain interiors but when you see a car with chunks of wood glued all over the body, I personally think that it is best to stay away.

Anyway, I might have a lead... Melspace02 knows a guy who might have one. So we shall see how that turns out. Still no idea on costs though.

iirc all the hatches on the s30 are the same... its just the first two years of the 240z's (till late 71) have vents on the back

i got a hatch off a 280z, one rust spot, but its not through im sure with a bit of prep before paint u could have a decent hatch lmk if ur interested

I will definately be interested if the local one doesn't happen. If you've still got it when I'm able to check out the one I am looking at, and decide not to get it, I'll shoot you a PM.

cool man, just lmk.... all my stuff is going on ebay and forums... trying to break even on my impulse buy

hopefully next year if funds permit ill get a much cleaner z.... ill even pay more so i dont get screwed
