Ok so I checked my oil today @ 3000 miles (15W40 Shell Dino Oil) and found that I was at the lowest point. What is that -3 quarts?

Anyway, I had gone into my dealer and asked for a oil consumption test before my warranty was up and they gave me the runaround and pretty much refused to do the test. They said (without looking at the car) "it's you PCV valve and it's not covered, so we can do your test but if we find that it's your PCV valve and not the engine then you have to pay for the test"

Basically they "found the problem" without looking. And if I wanted them to look they would still find the problem (PCV valve.. Not covered) and charge me for the test! Scum bags!

So... I know my engine is not going to blow up anytime soon but it's something to keep in mind.

How much will the parts cost to do a full rebuild with forged internals?? is there a company that sells the short blocks prebuilt?

I'm thinking of building the engine and slapping on a Supercharger to make 400ish WHP.

Well since i have to purchase a entire new engine i have done a little research. I have priced out a stage 2 long block for around $6500 short blocks are alot less. you also have to suply them with your usable core. I dont have that option since mine has holes in it. As said before check out http://www.importpartspro.com

There is a TSB for oil consumption problems.

I am currently under the test with mine. My dealer so far has been very cooperative. You may want to go back and make an appontment with the service manager and calmly just explain that your G is using a considerable amount of oil. Don't demand anything. Just let them evaluate your vehicle.

Good luck

Yes but I'm out of warranty they won't give me a new engine for free correct?

Also, I change my own oil, I have never had it done at the dealer. The dealership was giving me a hard time about that the last time I was there.

That PCV theory sounds weak to me. Even it it were the PCV, it would be a faulty PCV and I would argue that it wasn't working properly and insist they fixed it under the emission warranty.

I'd recommend that they do the test, and if they threaten you about having to pay for a PCV replacement, politely tell them to go ahead. Then refer the matter to the service manager, and let him know that you are taking notes as you intend to contact Infiniti AND the EPA.

Just my opinion.

If you're out of warranty they may not. Your argument should be a polite "it's been defective from day 1" and "It's the right thing to do".

Is your car over 5 yrs, or over 60k Miles?
