Allright...

So through a strange turn of events, I have recently recieved quite afew CA18DET parts through a friend of mine here in Orlando in exchange for help installing his SR20DET. Basically his CA18 blew up and he replaced it with an SR20. Kevin and I helped do the install of the new motor, and the guy told us we could pull whatever parts off the motor we needed...

So Kevin took the head and the turbo and the exhaust manifold and some other things. I took most of the rest of the motor and stuff but I'm sure kevin still wants some of it:)

Here's what it boils down to. I have my old CA18DET motor and stuff, and all this new stuff, I have enough to build a complete motorset.

I have/ plan to do soon: (this summer)

CA18DET blockrodsDET pistonscrankintake manifoldCA18DET headSR20DET T25 turbostock exhaust manifoldnew ringsnew rod bearingsnew main bearingsnew oil pumpnew gasket set (incl. head gasket)honed cylinders5 spd trannywiring harness already modified for US spec carsCA18DET stock downpipeSR20DET side mount intercooler and all pipingstock re-circ valve (BOV)MAFignitor chipecuinjector resistor370cc injectors (new o-rings)

all assembled and ready to go. now the question is, how much do you think I could get for all this? Or would I be better off parting it all out?

It seems like there are a ton of people looking for parts recently, and it would save me alot of time and my own money buying the new parts... but I think a rebuilt ready to drop in your car and go package would be worth some serious dough...

I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions:)

Thanks,Sean

Sean, I think you'd be better off parting stuff out. Most people in here will probabally want to build thier own stuff. But that's my opinion.

well damn... I was hoping that the fact that people are paying over $1800 for clips these days, this fully rebuilt, ready to drop in motorset (LHD ready harness, etc...) would go for something in the $2k range. If I can't get that, most of this stuff's going on eBay!

i do agree wif float.. i am going to rebuild, but i am going to want to choose all my own stuff and if i had your kit then well i would be trying to get rid of alot of that stuff too.. or it would just be closet space that could be used for my mags

If someone in our forums were really smart, they'd buy it whole and save themselves the rebuild time and trouble. For around $2k, I'd hit it if I were in the market for a ca and didn't have the experience I have. And the wiring harness is already done-up too? Guys, don't be stupid.

Sean, the only problem is that we have some seriously broke @$$ wanna-be CA18 owners around here who will try and haggle you for a lower price. CA motors are maybe cheaper than SRs, but it cost nissan more to produce the CA than the SR hence the reason why the SR was in production a lot longer. But for a fresh CA with all the leg-work done, you guys are crazy.

REPRESENT!

Well, technically I own two, but I'm broke ***, its gonna be awhile before I get one running..

a set of pistons will probably cost me 3/4 of a paycheck at least if not an entire paycheck !

I should start ebaying all the **** I don't want / need like all these vol1 DVDs for various anime series I never got the rest of lol

I'm not rich either, but I've set goals for myself and realize that mediocrity won't cut it. I've tried the JWT thing, but I got fed up with the chip, ecu, AFM, CAS, and ignitor. Sold most of that stuff and made a small fortune. Bought 3 SDS systems for a little over $3,000 for my cars and have never looked back. Well and worth the money spent, T3/T4 turbo (money well spent), big injectors (Money well spent) 300+hp (very easily accomplished) and engine is still stock. With the JWT ecus over $2000 spent and a loss of 3 engines. So in short, cheap is not always the best to go! Even the broke has to bend the rules to get where they are going.

I'm using it on my current car... I did a DE to DET conversion. Ask Kevin, he has all the extra turbo lines, manifold, and turbo off the old motor:)
