Has anybody ever heard or used this pully?!

I've always heard of the UR and ASP but haven't heard anyone talk about these. I've searched on the site too, but didn't get any results back about this pulley.

Here is the link to the Ka-e pulley I was looking at.

*Note its 61.50 brand new for the ka-e and the ka-de

Yes, and the KA is not a full balanced motor, its a half balanced shaft. A quality SFI damper would do it well, especially making good power, under boost. Harmonics eat bearings, dampers help.

yeah, that one OP posted looks like the $50 lighten crank pulley I got off ebay. Now that I understand engine balancing better, its pretty pointless.

On the other side, I have driven on one before and what it will do if everything else is stock is let you sit at a higher gear at a lower speed. like chillin at 28-32 in 4th instead of 3rd.

You may notice a bit of better fuel economy. So for daily driving it might be fine, I would track with a better designed pulley, not that KA's rev high anyway.

I would save the ~$500 for a turbo. You can get a properly working t25 turbo in your car for about $1000 (this includes all supporting parts). The ATI damper is meant for high revving, high power engines...it is kind of a waste on a stock NA kae.

The balancer is a good item to have, even on a stock car, the KA are a half balanced counterweight shaft, not the best even stock.

oh one more thing,

so i read on a post on here that it could cause more vibration than the stock pulleys?

is this true?

Unless you're running a really high performance setup. I wouldn't invest in that(The ATI or the OP's damper). Spend it elsewhere.

OUTTOWIN is rite man.....those lightend pullys are worthless on this crank..stock or not..its a truck motor..not really ment for a sprts car..the only reason we got em here in the states is due to our government restrictions..or we would all have sr's like in japan...save the coin for sumpin worthwhile...like the book "How to blueprint you engine" ..this little book is an easy read and will tell you everything you need to start understanding engine vibration and the damages they produce..hope this helps. :poke:

I have one in my 1989 SOHC KA right now. Actually, had it for the last 4 years with no problems. The engine is basically stock. I think the KA is pretty unforgiveable when it comes to balance and dampening. And this is only my personal assestment as an actual user of the pulley and nothing else. Not sure how it compares to other pulleys in the market, never seen other examples out there. After installation the engine "revved" and pulled looser and lighter under initial torque. And this is just going by the calibrated seat of my pants dyno. :gapteeth:

your example is like adding black pepper to hot sauce.. :wtf2: ..it means nothing...there is no power gain...nothing..you might have a little bit on the throttle..but the numbers come out the same in the end...if you really want to do it correctly...get a lightwieght fly wheel...aluminum driveline...your pully...then take your pully..your crank..pistons..rings bearings and rods down to a machine shop and have the whole rotating assembly balanced as a unit...then and only then will you feel the difference and understand a little better..allso..when you pull her apart..look at your bearings..you may have a suprise waiting that you dont know about due to your non-dampening pully...good luck
