Pistons have been enhanced!





They have been coated and the rods were reshotpeened and reloaded with new bearings and rings. After 3 years of sick abuse, the cranks journals were nearly perfect with with minimal wear. I can't wait! Can you?

I can't wait for mine to get here.. I decided to go with flat pistons for now since otherwise fate would screw me over again and make it go bewm, but that'll still give me ~8.7:1 CR w/ the 1mm overbore (84mm)..

Moly coated to reduce friction.

The reason I had this done is the fact that the CA18DET when pushed, does detonate to some extent and it has a lot to do with the design of the combustion chamber's quench area. So this is used to kinda somewhat reduch shock and excess hotspots caused on the piston's crown.

The pistons will have to be sent to me then on to my machinist. Pistons cost me $582 with rings and pins and coatings are around $120 my cost! I hope this is feasible for you because it seems like a worthy investment.

I was quoted ~ $220 just for the keronite coating last year.

a friend of mine was telling me its not a good move, the coatings crack over time and those cracks hold in heat and cause problemns, i can not confirm this nor dispell it so untill i do further reasearch and find out i will probably go with just the pistons , but if i find other wise then im down ! whats the turn around times for just pistons, and for pistons +coating, i didnt hear from the machineshop, but tomorrow im stoping over to talk to the owner and drop off my crank gridle which i forgot to take with me. think i should bother taking it in ?
