Ok. I just installed the N1 Oil pump, OEM water pump, and Tomei Timing Belt on my RB26DETT engine. I installed the tensioner (with a semi loose nut) and turned the crankshaft about 6 revolutions. The tensioner basically stayed in the same spot, with only moving a little at certain points on the same point on the crankshaft. So, once I saw where it was basically staying almost the whole time, I kept it there, tightened it inwards on the belt 1/16" inch, and fully torqued the timing belt tensioner nut down. The tensioner is good and tight, and doesn't pivot anymore.
There is about 1/4" freeplay on the timing belt itself on its longest section, between the crankshaft and the intake cam. Does this sound good to everyone? The tensioner nut is supposed to be torqued down to not allow the tensioner to pivot correct? Thanks all for your help.
