Alright, so a frew months ago I bought a used but in good shape nismo 2 way lsd. I was initially told it was a gt pro but it is definitely the GT or street or dealership model that does not have breakaway adjustments. Mine has no 19 mm bolt inside it to turn. Anyway, I installed the lsd unit into my r200 open diff housing and put it into the car. It turned out the stub shafts from the open diff are one spline short and a little bit too small of a diameter to mesh into the output holes. My factory shafts have 29 and this unit apparently needs a 30 spline shaft that is also a tiny bit bigger (1-2 mm). So, I am trying to find out what halfshafts or stub shafts will fit my diff and or car. I have access to a j30 rear end I can test fit one from tonight. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure....I hope I don't have to go to nismo for new ones.

Im pretty sure the j30 is gonna work. If they don't work then the other option would be q45 output shafts. Depending what you end up doing, ill let you know which axles to get.

Word. From what I have read the j30 should have the right stub shaft. If that works I will hopefully score a set of the 6 bolt j30 shafts and just use the stubs with the rest of my factory halfshafts. I have studied a lot on the differences between certain shafts, still haven't heard for sure what whole half shafts would work lengthwise.

The cv shafts you only have 3 combos that work. The stock axles, j30 axles (everyone uses these axles that have the early j30 diffs and skyline diffs), and with the 6 bolt star axles for the q45 diff setup and 6 bolt skyline diff, you use a z32 tt driver side for you're driver side and rather the q45 driver or skyline driver, fore you're passenger side. I personally have had all three setups and haven't found any other axles that fit.

I seem to recall that 30 spline 6 bolt shafts are compatible with S15 helical diffs. I believe they are very difficult to find used and very expensive new. J30 is 29 spline, since it goes right into the 240sx diff no problem.

Check this out: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/s13-op ... notes.html

Quote: "I counted splines carefully, and s15 output shaft has 30 and s13 open diff output shaft has 29."

You might want to call DriveShaftShop and see if they have anything for you.

Edit: Call ShaftMasters, since they are a NICO advertiser!

If the j30 splines are the same then just use q45 outputs from like a 95-96 and use j30 axles.

I think compactfean is 100% right with his above posts about the axle shaft combos to use, BUT I am pretty sure the J30 29 spline stubs are not going to fit in a 30 spline diff.

If I could have found a reasonable priced source for the 30 spline stubs, I would be rocking this right now:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320778140959?ss ... 1438.l2649

(yes he will ship slow boat for around $80)

Good luck, hope you can find some correct stubs!

Q45 stubs are the only stubs that will work.

Yup, I have a whole q45 rear to use....but my s14 burned to the ground last weekend :( not sure what happened, I was driving down the road like a normal person, I heard a whooshing noise, pulled over, and there she burned. It was so hot while I was driving the front brakes were out and I actually ran up on a curb to stop. I was leaving a car show so I had my good cameras and I videotaped and photographed it all once i knew there was no chance but waiting for the FD to put it out.

Yeah I wish the pics and vids and the story would make some money back on the car lol. I only lost about 3500 worth of car and parts. I have some things I can salvage. I am about to be going through a lot of major changes, getting finished divorcing a scumbag wife, about to sell my house to buy one that requires less maintenance and upkeep closer to where I work and building a big 40x50 shop with a lift at my family farm where I got a couple of acres adjacent. That way I am not using my backyard for storage and working in a tiny poorly designed garage. I was trying to make this my year to really get into motorsports, but wow has life changed in the last six months. I have gone from being unemployed after my business failed and married to getting divorced and into the best job of my life and getting paid decent again right as I am forced to spend more money than I have just to keep my life together. I am just tryiing to weather the storm, hopefully by the end of this year I should be exactly where I wanna be. And I have to get a new car as a dd soon. I went from the s14 back to my mini truck and put the stock height suspension back on but I just got a crx that was rebuilt so I can get good gas mileage to and from work and take it on some long trips this year. Hoping to get settled by this time next year with house and garage and s*** and then I will get a nice newer car for a dd. I have 2 s13 coupes right now, my se is going to get put back stock (got coils and s*** on it, will put these on the track car) adn then I am going to sell that to get mmy other s13 coupe done as a drift only track car. Will be putting this diff into that. And then again, I may get another s14 yet, i have this one for sheetmetal and misc parts now.

Thread revival time, I have been working my as off and travelling but I just got handed a newly created position at twork that gets me the same pay and I only work 4 10's. I have been parting my s14 this weekend, and I pulled the subframe to throw in my track car, and I am about to do whatever it takes to get this diff in my car. Option one is getting everything to use with these q45 ones (turns out this one from a car that go the s**t hit out of it while it was in gear, kind of iffy on using them) or buy s15 spec r stub shafts, which I was told by my local nissan dealer *should* work. I have a friend in Japan right now that is willing to snag me some but does anyone think they will work? I can go the third option and get custom ones from shaftmasters, but that is looking like it would cost more than twice what I would be spending on the s15's. I wish my friend in Japan could measure them but he isn't a car guy at all and is only going to be there another couple days. I am building a KA24de to go back into the car, it will be ready for boost but I won't be turboing it until I get some track time in the car and save up for a proper turbo and intercooler. SO, at most I will be pushing 300ish out the back of this car. It will be drag raced at a strip I am sure but not seriously, probably just on street tires.

There are only 2 options for stub shaft spline count. 240sx/j30 and q45/s15/z33. They will fit. As far as 300 hp..... N/a? Not likely. Isn't the s15 6 bolt star pattern just like the q45?? If so that seems like a lot of effort when there is plenty I'm the states that will work.

I meant after I get the turbo bought and installed, sir. I will be running a holset when I can afford one. I talked to my machinist this afternoon, and he measured everything for me so I can have him redrill these q45 stubs after I weld them up to have enough meat. Got some steel to enlarge the flanges on the way home. I will post up pics as I go.
