I tried searching "head bolt socket" and came up with nothing. What is the correct type and size socket to remove the head bolts? They look like huge allen or hex bolts and I'd rather not buy a complete set of that style socket when I can just buy/borrow the correct one.

thanks,

-Matt

They are 6mm Allen head I think. Don't quote me on that. Just look it up in the FSM. If you dont have one check the stickies at the top of this page for a link.

I've never been able to fit the fatter 1/2 inch drive 10mm allen socket down there and managed to snap a 3/8 inch drive socket as pictured.I wound up welding the "10mm allen bit" to a 17mm head suspension bolt. That got those stubborn overtorqued head bolts out... and is now my 'special ca18 headbolt tool'.Some moron actually broke one of the head bolts over tightening.Use a quality allen too, as you DON"T wanna ruin any bolt head, as they're 'way down in there'. You're fckd then

i inserted a 9mm allen in the head bolts just to get alot of the oil out so the 10mm fits better. dont try to undo them with a 9mm though.
