I have a 98 q45 that I have needed to replace the SRS module located underneath the center console. If you see my previous posts you will know I tried the reset procedure to no avail and have concluded whoever repaired the car, after it was in a front end accident that deployed the steering wheel bag, never installed a new/reset module.
I located a replacement one from a parts car, but I need a special torx bit to remove it as well as to remove mine. The SRS module bolts have a metal pin in the center so you cannot use a standard torx bit. Question one, can I drill a small hole in the center of the torx bit with a hardened drill bit just deep enough so I can remove the bolts? If not, then what is the correct size bit and where can I buy one? This is the last part I need to replace on my car so I would like to get it done asap before the parts car is junked. The bolts are fairly large and the torx size looks big as well. Size 50?
If anyone knows the info or has this bot to sell/loan for a wknd, please let me know.
