Correct msd ignition for s13 sr20det

I have searched but the info I get is a little confusing. Which msd products will work on a s13 sr20det engine? Msd dis-4, msd sci, msd 6a & 6al? Please clarify for me as I am getting conflicting info thanks.

For an SR with four coilpacks you would need an MSD DIS 4......it like an amplifier with 4 channels,DIS means distributorless ignition what an SR has as an ignition system with four channels after the ignitor chip....you would have to hack both plugs at the sub harness and then have 16 wires,you would have to find negative before the the ignition box leading into it coresponding to the proper channel on the wiring instructions for the negative wire colors going in and right back out of the ignition box to the coresponding negative wires leading to the coilpack negative,then the same for all of the positive wires going in and going out to the coilpacks on the positive side.......you cannot mix them up or the motor will not run,you will have the channels crossed creating all kinds of havoc...........then there is the white wire comming out of the ignition box that is your 12 volt square wave signal that is your tach signal that is run to the tachometer in your dash.............factory DIS sytems put out a pulse signal although....if your dash tachometer cannot read a 12 volt square wave signal then your going to need a tach adapter from MSD that converts a square wave 12 volt signal to a pulse so your tachometer would work in your dash.....or you would need an aftermarket tachometer.

If this isnt enough to make not want an MSD on your car I remember the JUN Hyper Lemon Silvia making 800 horsepower on the stock coilpacks........if you want a two step rev limeter so ya can spool the turbo on the line and get really good launches check out import intellgence.com for their add on 2 step rev limiter box for I think $225....there is even a vid of an SR 240 doing a lauch with it on there........oh and 15 year old coilpacks have to be taken into consideration there soaking up all that saturation all the time too from that MSD too.

oh and if you want to ground the blue wire off of the ignition box off of your clutch switch for your clutch safety switch..........most cars disconnect a circuit to make it work off of the clutch safety switch....to make it work you would also need a 30 amp relay just for the 2 step rev limiter.

your SR with four individual coilpacks should be enough for the motor, the japanese guy don't even need msd. maybe u have have honda engine, then yes. don't wasted your money bro.
